Interesting read for anyone interested in The Thames. Water level rising by 5mm per year since 1991 is an interesting perspective

So, if you ever wondered why people who understand surveillance are salty about video cameras on doorbells...

It's only a matter of time before they get co-opted into mass surveillance. And if the regime you live under changes that's you spying on your neighbours.

Trump - why does Denmark own Greenland anyway? There are no written documents...

Who owns Greenland?
Denmark’s claim is unimpeachable. In the 1951 Defense of Greenland Agreement with Denmark, the US unambiguously recognizes ‘the sovereignty of the Kingdom of Denmark’ over Greenland.

Moorhens seem to have taken to our garden after recent flooding drive them to venture further from the river. Unusually a Coal Tit spent a long time on the feeders too, normally just take seed and fly off. #essexbirding @bto-gbw.bsky.social

One thing that now even the most hopeful have to admit, is that the unctuous European tactic of flattering, praising, massaging Trump has been a catastrophic failure and made things worse.

Well done. Individuals or organisations remaining with TwitterX are signalling relative lack of concern over the values demonstrated by the organisation. This is no different from the way one would consider an individual person.
Last year, we made the decision to step away from X.

The Royal Irish Academy is committed to creating, convening, and sharing knowledge for the public good and as an organisation we value Independence; Integrity; Curiosity; Openness and Rigour.

In our view, X no longer aligns with these values

More than 200,000 Danish citizens have signed a petition to buy California as a response to Trump’s attempt to take Greenland.

They say they will provide Californians with “rule of law, universal health care, fact-based politics, and a lifetime supply of Danish pastries.”

New tariff just dropped.

Americans set to pay an additional 10% tax on all goods from Germany, the UK, France, the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and Finland.

It starts in two weeks, rising to 25% by June.

(Aside: A trade war with one EU country is a trade war with the entire EU).

Dangerous new step in Trump's deranged pursuit of Greenland: economic punishment of allies to coerce Denmark into selling Greenland—on demonstrably spurious grounds. The president is lying: US missile defence can function perfectly w/out US ownership of Greenland. It has done for decades.
