Da fehlt die Tardis... ;)

This is excellent. In three minutes she explains how democracies become dictatorships. It's happened so many times, yet in each country, most people said, 'it can't happen here'
#StaceyAbrams explains how to achieve an #autocracy in 10 steps.

We're at step 9.

The military is in our streets. Is our democracy worth the effort to defend it?

It would be a useful exercise for the cultural heritage community to estimate the current value of loss and damage to culture & heritage from climate change and then commute the allocable share of that damage to each of these 122 responsible parties.

📢 @ucsusa.bsky.social analysis links nearly half of temperature rise and one-third of sea level rise today to emissions from 122 fossil fuel producers and cement manufacturers. Polluters must be held accountable for delayed action causing global impacts for generations to come. #MakePollutersPay

Absolutely devastating. The Ningaloo Reef is one of the most amazing places I've ever been - this is heartbreaking, as so many news are these days.

"Almost 90% of marine heatwaves are already attributable to human-caused global heating (...)"

Large areas of WA’s Ningaloo corals could die in ‘weeks ahead’ after widespread bleaching documented
Conservationists call for urgent government action as prolonged heatwave affects renowned reef, including Turquoise Bay, Tantabiddi and Bundegi

Auschwitz was at the end of a long process. It did not start from gas chambers.

This hatred was gradually developed by humans. From ideas, words, stereotypes & prejudice through legal exclusion, dehumanization & escalating violence... to systematic and industrial murder.

Auschwitz took time.

Eighty years ago today, over 7,000 prisoners of the German Nazi camp #Auschwitz, including some 700 children, were liberated by the soldiers of the Soviet Army.

1,689 days of murder, pain, suffering, and humiliation were over.
Today, we all remember. We must keep remembering.

„... gaben in Deutschland etwa 40 Prozent an, nicht gewusst zu haben, dass etwa sechs Millionen Juden in der Zeit des Nationalsozialismus ermordet wurden.“ Und genau deshalb gehe ich an Schulen, um aus Victor Klemperers Tagebuch zu lesen und über Holocaust und Antisemitismus zu sprechen.
Currently thinking of shutting down my Insta account, I suppose I would not be able to follow quite a lot of people anymore. Well, c'est la vie, right? 2/2
It's a shame how many cool content creators have restricted themselves to social media platforms.

I may be getting too old for this game, but I always found a blog or website a much more comfortable medium - though often led there by a social media post. 1/2
Why on earth are people celebrating burning space debris as if it were polar lights or fireworks?! Unbelievable.

"We need to start understanding that Elon Musk’s X is a weapon, currently owned by a non-state entity. But from January 20 that changes. At that point it must be understood as information warfare from a hostile nation state."

@carolecadwalla.bsky.social as usually one step ahead of most of us.
Total information collapse
It's started. And it's only going to accelerate from here.

Travelling by train today, I am once again asking myself which kinds of morons keep designing trains with several steps in the entryways and throughout the train. Unbelievable.

For years, Australians have called for greater protection of the #GreatAustralianBight. In partnership with the #Mirning Council of Elders, the Wilderness Society has taken a critical step forward by drafting a consultation document on the case for #WorldHeritage.
