The promise of no algorithms (or at least user controlled algorithms) was one of the main things that brought me to BlueSky originally.

But they dropped that ball, and so many others (like a user friendly migration tool).

It’s why I’ve moved to Blacksky. They’re trying to make it right.

I want social media without an algorithm. I want to control what I see. Every app is slowly taking this away, because they can manipulate "stickiness" with algorithms. By their metric, users "want" an algorithm because they use the app more.

Media always like to take the path of least resistance & nuance isn’t its strong suit.

It’s harder to explain to the general public that this is a baby step. People want resolution and taking the easy way out calling it a peace plan accomplishes that for them.

I hate to say that it wouldn’t surprise me at ALL if the ceasefire implodes in dramatic fashion.

Trump’s need to hold a “look at me, I’m special” event glossed over the actual, real work that he doesn’t have the guts (or the smarts) to put into play.

Trump is using the shutdown as an excuse to force the cuts that he thought might run into resistance in a “normal” circumstance.

He is betraying our Constitution and our country.
