And the BBC has been starved of money by successive governments therefore cannot compete because of a political will to prevent it from ‘upsetting its commercial competitors’; it could still make another Abigail’s Party. Channel 4’s different problem is partly self-inflicted through stupidity.

Says it all. ITV still has a colossal perception problem not helped by an aging schedule that should have been revamped 20 years ago but it’s now too late for them.

Last month, something unusual happened in TV - none of the main channels got a million viewers at 9pm. The bigger problem was it happened a 2nd & 3rd time soon after.

Another unwelcome landmark for linear TV & our shrinking shared TV experience.

I'll be at this year's Square Eye TV, introducing an ultra rare screening of the 1975 adaptation of Poe's Imp of the Perverse, starring Michael Kitchen and Lalla Ward.

Also screening is the magnificent A View from a Hill from 2005, followed by a Q&A with writer Peter Harness.

There was a guy called in the 60s called John Cura who took 250k 'tele-snaps', up to 80s shots per programme, which he sold to actors/directors. In some cases, his shots are all that remain of lost TV episodes, including Doctor Who.

All of the above, but with a single caveat: Kieran Prendeville is brought in and tarred/feathered in E01 for misleading the public about the durability of the CD format.

Illustrates that science is imperfect, ever-evolving and has real world consequences.

BBC BRING BACK 'TOMORROW'S WORLD'.

Science, tech, environment reporting are woeful currently. Something that blasts excitement about what a golden age we're in of discovery (vaccines, computing, space exploration etc etc) but can also be a trojan horse for warnings on climate etc
