certainly no problem with the border control, the problem lies with the number of passangers, which is (at peak times) higher than (or close to) the maximum capacity this terminal can process.

what is EES?
Check-in for 3 trains I took leaving London in Spring and early Summer was equally bad. A train I took a few weeks ago was better, but then I travelled mid-day (around 3 pm), which may be part of the explanation.

It seems they just have too many trains leaving London between 4-6 pm.

Is this becoming the new normal for international train travel in London? (Plus a very long line in the hall, just like last time, and the time before and….) @eurostarnews.bsky.social

making this distinction is necessary, since there is a lot of "jumping to conclusions" when people hear about the idea that one can have too much money. And if one thinks that wanting to construct an extreme wealth line implies a 100% taxation rate, then this is confused.

In this blog, we explain why we need to have an Extreme Wealth Line, just like the Extreme Poverty Line. Also, having a line as a social indicator does not necessarily commit one to a limit on wealth possession via taxation only; it's a regulative ideal.

Let’s be clear – an Extreme Wealth Line is not a cap on wealth
An extreme wealth line (EWL) defines a level where the harms associated with extreme wealth become socially unacceptable. It is not the same as a cap on wealth

Lisa Herzog has written an important book on how our economy erodes and sabotages real democracy, and what to do about that. And we're organising an online book discussion on Thursday!

Proud to have signed the letter from 600+ economists & inequality experts from 70 countries supporting the call for a new Independent Panel on Inequality -- an Inequality IPCC-- to tackle rising inequality.

The G20 leaders must support this. #G20SouthAfrica

The good news is that there is lots of other beautiful art on the Etsy website of Silverpebble. So have a look. www.etsy.com/shop/silverp...

So I told myself I really had to concentrate on the writing now, but that the next day, I would treat myself to one of those beauties.

To all of you, I have good news and bad news.

The bad news is that I just bought the last copy of this beautiful piece:

Last night, someone here at BS retweeted a post - with picture - of Emma Mitchell's artwork.
It had been a very long day, and I could not go to bed before I finished the foreword for the Paperback edition of the German translation of Limitarianism. But I looked at Emma's art, and was captivated. >
I plan to post at least one of my photos a day here on Bluesky. I design each of my photos using recent research into the benefits to mental health of looking at plants & patterns in nature.

Yes, it is very sad (or better: worrying) that recent political events make the case against wealth concentration so clear (above all Musk's actions, but not only him).

Disturbing analysis from SkyNews on how X is strongly biased in favour of rightwing content, and also in favour of posts with extremist statements. Musk bought X to have political influence - the obvious explanation, but now we get some of the data to support it.

Since the COPs won't save the planet, and the Dutch elections hardly mentioned climate change, I wrote a blogpost on books that can move a broad group of citizens when it comes to climate and environmental issues.

Kortom, ongegronde uitsluiting.
Dit heet tegenwoordig toch "ruim 1,3 miljoen kiezers uitsluiten"?

(I will write that paper next year, but for another example, see crookedtimber.org/2024/12/09/t...)

Also, while this requires more argumentation, this also serves as an example of what is wrong with any ideology that puts “effective” before its name. No historical justice, epistemic considerations, structural & power analyses.
