It has been a wild ride from figuring out how to condense this down into a cassette case, to being featured in my LGS, and now the end of the conveniently timed jam and getting a shout here! I'm so glad everyone is finding this as cool as I do 😄

This is why, more and more, I just can't muster up any desire to be a success in the mainstream art world. They want AI to make "content" for people who don't care.

I care about my art, and I want to give it to an audience who cares.

I do not want to be big and popular but I do want to look back on this and know it made a difference in the lives of people who needed it the most. I just need the right people to find it.

People who miss virtual worlds and find comfort in the unknown and knowing their choices have greater meaning.

I don't know what it is but I have this wild idea that if I just keep updating the game, expanding on the story, making art and meeting people, that eventually, Vekari might build community on the foundations. It is made by a trans man, it contains all the messaging you think it does

I do already have a Discord server, but people have very valid reasons for not wanting to sign up there either. The best way to build a safe community space for this game, I think, would be to do this.

I think there is more to being social than bad faith debates. Time to be the example.

If protecting people from harmful rhetoric means I want an echo chamber then so be it. I'm done acting like these people are trying to debate anything in good faith and not just spreading death cult propaganda, and watching my community get blamed for speaking up when we get hurt

It would be incredibly small because of the focus on players of this game, and maybe even smaller if I can make it invite only. But it would eliminate a LOT of issues as a result and keep my players safe from TOS changes that disproportionately target victims and minorities, a trend in 2025 it seems

The idea is to build on a decentralized open source platform, have character accounts/programmed bots (no AI) to interact with (can affect the overall story), as well as the ability to communicate with other players, and to place focus on protecting trans users and minorities and moderating AI.
