I (not so recently) made a blog to document my trials and tribulations as I make a game for the Playdate! If you're interested in that sort of thing, you should totally give it a read on my website: callejas.xyz

Working on an assignment in Unity and I get a message:

*alt-tab to Signal*

Them: "What the fuck I just started learning Unity and it's already crashing on me"

Me: "Oh that's weird. I do hate Unity, but I've actually rarely had it crash"

*alt-tab back to Unity*

Exceptional timing, as always...

Shoot, just realized the one I'm more intrigued by is the sequel, which is only on PS5. That's definitely not going on sale anytime soon <.< Though maybe I'll snag a month of PS+ and blast through it when I have some free time...
Oh nice! I love when games have accessibility options for stuff like that which some ppl might not even think twice about (idr which it was but I know one has an arachnophobia toggle).

Will def keep an eye on sale prices, thanks for the tip :D
Omg I really wanna play it someday and hopefully (foolishly) I might actually be able to deal with the freaky deaky bits. Buuut money 😮‍💨

It's October! Time to re-play the first few hours of Alien: Isolation for the nth time and then chicken out o7
Weird how the more I look up to someone the more they end up detesting generative AI...
“I am not interested, nor will I ever be interested. I'm 61, and I hope to be able to remain uninterested in using it at all until I croak. ... The other day, somebody wrote me an email, said, ‘What is your stance on AI?’ And my answer was very short. I said, ‘I'd rather die.’” 🫡
Filmmaker Guillermo del Toro says 'I'd rather die' than use generative AI
Del Toro's new Frankenstein adaption reimagines Mary Shelley's 1818 Gothic novel. Frankenstein was like a tech bro: "creating something without considering the consequences," he explains.

if you are actually concerned with devs getting paid what they're worth you could probably say more useful things than "games should be $100". you could condemn excessive exec pay. you could fight for unionization and better labor protections. you could display, like, any interest in ending poverty

Instead of giving Stranger Things finale a theatrical release, how about just expanding the release of Guillermo del Toro's FRANKENSTEIN? 🥺

first impression of Godot: i keep expecting stuff to be annoying and then it turns out to be straightforward

"chelsea, do you think this approach will get you anywhere?"

it isn't *my* duty to fix transphobes. cis people created transphobia, not me. i want these people to know they are despised and i want everyone else to see my anger and disdain for people who agree with my enemies.

because they are one.
Pretty accurate Tumblr post

Also I was somehow not excited *enough*, it blew my expectations out of the water

Also I cried a bit, but I can't wait to watch it again in November from the comfort of my own home, where I may ugly cry as much as I want lmao
Hell yeah! I'll be sure to come back and spoil everything once I leave the theater in ~2 hours >:3
Realizing that the last time I was here was to watch @realgdt.bsky.social's Pinocchio 🤔

Holy shit right? Idk how common it is to have multiple hours logged on a demo, but it's definitely a first for me...

How about we seriously engage with games and play preservation beyond nostalgia then? Video games as culturally and temporally constituted assemblages?
