Having a Goldilocks moment with my antidepressants where I felt too lethargic on a full dose, so I started weaning off with a half dose which felt great, but now that I'm off entirely I feel too anxious this time. I think I might go back to half and stick to it this time. It was just right.

"blocking and moving on is enough..." I whisper to myself, so badly wanting to make things worse by going for the Dunk

I wish Bluesky would bring back Circles. Sometimes shitting on a bad take in just one DM chat isn't enough, I need the whole squad to shit on it (but in private)

On a whim, I wrote most of a video script entirely about why I don't really care for a particular popular fan theory about a certain video game. I'm not sure if I'll produce it because I've never done a video even close to "poking holes in a fan theory" before, but it was satisfying to write.

I've noticed the opposing team's fans only cheer when the opponents score on us. To win those fans over, I recommend we score on ourselves repeatedly; that will surely make them so happy they'll start supporting us. And I'm sure all our fans will keep cheering for us—who else is there to cheer for?

It really *is* remarkable how the appearance of a TRON movie always signals how blindly & clumsily desperate Disney is to capture the idiot teen boy demographic at that particular moment.
thespaceshipper.com
“The famous thing is, we basically sold Disney a film that we had no way to make. When we started the movie, the tools to make it didn’t exist. [Director Steven Lisberger] had the balls to go in with this idea and say, ‘We’re gonna figure it out.’ I don’t think there’s ever been a film like Tron.”

In 1982, #Tron’s CG visual effects were so new that they completely confused Academy voters. Animator Bill Kroyer recalls what happened...

I'm not complaining, by the way. I think the maximalist approach to Fortnite is the funniest thing about it. Art the Clown coexisting with KPop Demon Hunters characters is really funny.
jennygeist.bsky.social
I feel like most IP licensers must not know that Fortnite is a Gun game, where you Shoot people, to Kill them. They have to assume it's something like Minecraft, right? That's the only explanation I can think of for how characters like Aang and Scooby-Doo are allowed in, to Kill People With Pistols.

The only correct take on a fundamentally anti-human technology.
Screenshot of David Simon interview
SHAPIRO: OK, so you've spent your career creating television without Al, and I could imagine today you thinking, boy, I wish I had had that tool to solve those thorny problems...
SIMON: What?
SHAPIRO: ...Or saying...
SIMON: You imagine that?
SHAPIRO: ...Boy, if that had existed, it would have screwed me over.
SIMON: I don't think Al can remotely challenge what writers do at a fundamentally creative level.
SHAPIRO: But if you're trying to transition from scene five to scene six, and you're stuck with that transition, you could imagine plugging that portion of the script into an Al and say, give me 10 ideas for how to transition this.
SIMON: I'd rather put a gun in my mouth.

Idk why I'm feeling so spicy today. I'm still in the process of switching to shots for my estrogen so is it just my body getting used to a different way of ingesting hormones? But also my weekly injection was yesterday so if anything I feel like I should be around the bend not feeling nonstop pissy.

It's especially baffling when the "adult cartoons about depression" in question are:
· Rick & Morty, which… isn't really about depression at all?
· Bojack Horseman, which is almost universally considered a Good Show.
jennygeist.bsky.social
I really enjoy Smiling Friends which makes the existence of pretentious Smiling Friends fans all the more annoying/baffling to me. "After so many adult cartoons about DEPRESSION (there were like two) we have an adult cartoon about POSITIVITY (and it's literally just normal funny cartoon hijinks)"

Particularly when, even though Kamala deferred to "I just followed the law" with trans rights and planned to crack down on the border, the right still painted her as a radical socialist transing your kids. You don't think they'd do the same with Newsom, no matter how many Nazi podcasts he guests on?
jennygeist.bsky.social
It's weird that leftists were apparently a big enough voting bloc to cost Kamala the election, but were not a big enough voting bloc to cater to. If we wanna be all pragmatic and discuss strategies that win elections, maybe start by listening to the bloc you're claiming lost you the election?
jennygeist.bsky.social
"We have to move to the center! We have to ignore trans rights and be tough on the border! It's an election-winning strategy!"
(looks inside)
(it's the strategy that quite literally lost the 2024 election)

if you're concerned about information security, you should know Signal isn't actually secure. instead, try Mastodon, which is a website where you can be guaranteed no one will ever see what you post

I remember awhile back, there was an article where the headline was like, "People on Bluesky can't take a joke", and people were flaming it in the comments assuming it was defending people who were making light of racism/misogyny/etc.

No, it's about this

“10/7 was bad and everything that followed in aftermath was worse” is a perfectly moral and popular position. it’s more or less the American consensus on 9/11.

My statement on the two year anniversary of October 7, 2023.
“Two years ago today, Hamas carried out a horrific war crime, killing more than 1,100 Israelis and kidnapping 250 more. I mourn these lives and pray for the safe return of every hostage still held and for every family whose lives were torn apart by these atrocities.

In the aftermath of that day, Prime Minister Netanyahu and the Israeli government launched a genocidal war: adeath toll that now far exceeds 67,000; with the Israeli military bombing homes, hospitals, and schools into rubble. Every day in Gaza has become a place where grief itself has run out of language. I mourn these lives and pray for the families that have been shattered. Our government has been complicit through it all.

This must end. The occupation and apartheid must end. Peace must be pursued through diplomacy, not war crimes, and our government must act to end these atrocities and hold those responsible to account.

These last two years have demonstrated the very worst of humanity. We must answer it by modeling the very best: a relentless pursuit of our higher ideals and an unwavering commitment to universal human rights.”

I don't know if it's "left wing coded" but it's much more popular with women as opposed to your typical halftime show. I feel like the specific crowd that's mad about this is the type that never stopped listening to Christian rock who would only even know KPop from like, a niece being interested.
jennygeist.bsky.social
It's especially wild in the Bad Bunny case because non-English music is popular even in the US! KPop is literally one of the biggest genres of the past decade. It's just turboracism microwaving the brain so much that something as inane as "hearing a Spanish song" makes the Klan meter jump to 100.

So much societal rot in the U.S. can be attributed to how much this country encourages acting as much like a 7 month old as possible. You are owed a mommy to take care of you all the time. You are owed more attention than everything else. You are the specialist little baby in the universe forever.
