The reason why it looks like modern books are worse compared to older books is that the books that were new and bad in 1938 are no longer being sold today, so you only have the best of the best of the old stuff that you’re comparing to the entirety of the modern stuff. This applies to all media

Essentially randomises the election, any of the 4 parties could win the most seats, indeed when you consider the efficiency of the geographic distribution of each party's vote this probably gives the Lib Dems the highest chance of being the largest party. 4 parties on 150-ish seats each is plausible
