Meanwhile Well Run FC showing yet again how running a club well pays dividends.
In which @arusbridger.bsky.social comments on the Liz Truss show.

Most of us are way beyond caring about anything she says or does now. But it’s how someone as inadequate as her *ever* got their hands on power that matters. Because it could easily happen again.

Fuming that we’re already out of the cup. That second half performance makes it even more frustrating. Where has that attitude and application been all season. We were brain dead once Scarlett and Solanke came on.

Clueless. Again.

If I was Frank I would put Byfield and Williams-Barnet on at half time. The games done, it will give the crowd a bit of a lift. What’s the worse that can happen? And then I would resign after the game.

Evening shout for today's Tottenham On My Mind piece about the state Spurs are in and the uncertain future. Not a pretty sight.

In the Bleak Midwinter
With full respect to Bournemouth, losing to their 94th minute winner would not in normal circumstances been seen as a significant moment in the recent history of any Premier League club, let alone …

Bleak but brilliant. Can’t disagree with a single word. Happy New Year mate 😂

Also not people 😂

I can’t answer that - certainly no one springs to mind but there must be a plethora of exciting managers out there ready to take this club forward. Not that I trust our hierarchy to find the right man I’ll admit.

If we’re not going to get relegated then absolutely change now and let a new man bed in. Pointless to keep a dead man walking.

The real incompetence in football lies not with managers but owners. Today’s announcements reinforcing that absolute truth.

All about the characters which has been its strength from day one. Very solid finale given that so much could have gone wrong.

Brutal stat from Sky Sports yesterday.

One of my long-held beliefs is that sporting directors should be much more publicly accountable than they are in the Premier League.

An article about why it shouldn't always just be the coaches in front of the cameras.

Stand by for Jim Ratcliffe asking the tax payer to fund Amorim's compo.

Bright blue sky reflecting off a light dusting of power perfect snow. What an absolutely magical morning to wake up to.

The DOF/Sporting Director role is priceless to inept owners. Curbs manager power and gives a nice layer of insulation from blame.
Any sign the fans will turn? Coach P45.
Any self reflection on repeatedly hiring the wrong guys?
No chance.
Easy.
Amorim probably should have kept that in house (maybe he has and is at end of tether) but he speaks to the wider truth that the demands on managers have increased while their means to meet them have declined. They are head coaches - not managers.

Waste of everyone's time now isn't it?

To clarify, the crime isn't not attacking, it's not TRYING to attack.
Unless that changes it doesn't matter who is fit or injured

I’d rather start over again with a new manager than watch whatever the fuck this is any longer

Watching the game. My TV has turned itself off because it cannot detect any activity.

The answer is not new players. So many teams (including Palace today) play much better football than us with a lower caliber of player. The answer is better management and coaching. Demanding new players in the January transfer window will not solve our problems.

Thomas Frank unfortunately been sucked into the modern day fallacy that results are the only thing that matters. At any cost. Not here, not ever #thfc

If we somehow hang on for a win, it’s still an unacceptable level of positive, front foot football. If we lose from here (given these 2nd half tactics) then Frank simply has to go. Every time I watch it’s just unwatchable.

Not for the 1st time this season I can most accurately describe our tactics and ambition like a lower league team trying to cause a cup upset. Pitifully negative.

Why are we incapable of putting our foot on the ball and finding a teammate with a pass? Our lack of composure in possession is embarrassing

Still don’t see much attacking plan. Little to no options when trying to play from the back. Gray/Bergvall the highlights for me as always. Spence trying to positive. Bentancur has morphed into the worst version of Hojberg. Wingers too lightweight. VDV imperious, Richarlison fully committed.

Moronic challenge by Simons. Slow motion makes it look even worse giving referee very little choice.

Again not the defeat that bothers me as much as the manner of it. Yet another, not just poor, but woeful performance. I understand new managers need time to bed in but how you can get so little out of these players on such a consistent basis is beyond me #thfc

Another absolutely ludicrous VAR decision in the Liverpool game. Ruining the game bit by bit.
