Her three arms/hands are the big tell in this case...

I'm laughing at your simplistic view of things. It's not my expectation Trump would follow the laws; Vought has made that clear, if it wasn't already clear. It's that, if they failed to give notice, it provides a hook for the ensuing lawsuits.

Agreed.
I've known people who would not walk on this. Fear of heights.

RIFs require prior notice, at least 30 days. Did Vought or someone send out a notice 30 days ago to every civil servant?

I am blown away by how lengthy, detailed, and well written the whole opinion is.

About the meandering Trump "quote" I made up & posted earlier… When I saw the Nobel Prize Committee's post quoting Dr King on injustice, I read it, then for who-knows-why I imagined Trump saying it, and with that the meaning suddenly flipped from a lament to a strategy.

Photo of Trump, scowling, while looking off to the distance. All black background. And over part of the black background, text in white letters, all caps: "INJUSTICE ANYWHERE IS A THREAT TO JUSTICE EVERYWHERE. - DONALD J TRUMP"

In the upper-right of the photo, faint/dark-grey text says: "Trump did not say that. Dr King did."

"Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere, which is why injustice somewhere must be maintained everywhere." – Donald Trump, 2025 Nobel Peace Prize loser
Screenshot from the other site of post by the Nobel Prize account, with a photo of Dr Martin Luther King, Jr.

(quote) “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” (unquote)

Martin Luther King's 1964 peace prize brought global attention to the civil rights struggle in the United States and strengthened his influence as an international advocate for nonviolent protest, human rights, and racial equality.

This defense of the compact, from one of its architects, makes clear that there's no limiting principle in the perceived problems or solution: the U.S. government (actually, DOJ) would like to operate for universities just like a new board of trustees. Goodbye, state, alumni, and private control.

Gov't provides loans to students.
Gov't provides grants to some students.
Gov't provides money to profs at schools in return for which the profs are to perform research or other things of value for the gov't or the public good.

Puzzle for me: Which of those is an "investment" _in the school_?

All I know about Flanagan is that she has a profile on Twitter. As I read her post, I thought maybe it was sarcasm, and then when I got to the "almost like a daughter" part I was _sure_ it was sarcasm. And at "We all are," I was double sure. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Wen should direct more attention to incidents like these because Americans are more likely to respond to brutality to pets than to brutality to human beings.

... the hands of a future legislature (again, even if it's done by statute). Plus, as Art I, Sec 5 says each House may set its rules, no statute could limit that authority.

They're rules, created by statute, as an exercise of Congress' rulemaking authority under Article I, section 5. Procedural rules, unless set down in the Constitution, are rules like any other rules in the Senate Rules. The legal concept is called anti-entrenchment, that no legislature may tie...

The Trump administration is offering $60K in student loan forgiveness as a recruitment tool for ICE, which just proves fighting Biden on student loan relief was never about the loans or “paying your own debt.” It was about who was offering it and who it would’ve helped.
