Because of the price of eggs, I give you the classic Great Depression-era recipe for Crazy Cake, both in the original chocolate and vanilla versions. No eggs, no milk, all deliciousness.

2 tsp. Vanilla
2 tsp. Vinegar
6 Tbs. Oil

A Democrat shares a video by one of America’s most notorious antisemites. He misses the very obvious antisemitic trope in the video. He then defends the share after people point this out to him.

Incredible stuff.

I don't take a dime from any PAC or lobbyist, including AIPAC.
I am proud to be one of the handful of Democrats standing up against Big Money.

This was a documentary made by Tommy G who interviewed me. I did not speak to or meet lan Carrol. I stand by my words and should be judged by them.
kebrightbill.bsky.social
That would have required them to see complexity that they refuse to consider
kebrightbill.bsky.social
Right, and from a purely practical standpoint, there's no such thing as a dictator whose ideas are going to perfectly align and be the exact same kind of communist as you, so at some point people need to ask how they're going to achieve dictatorial goals without totalitarian force.
kebrightbill.bsky.social
I don't know what the best play is, but if your analysis of this situation isn't also looking ahead to 2026, you're ignoring the bigger picture.

Make a case for how you think Dems should play it in light of the midterms, and why you think that'll work, don't just underpants gnome it.
kebrightbill.bsky.social
Yeah, and when it comes right down to it, they're asking for a dictator who agrees with them, not a democratic system
kebrightbill.bsky.social
There's also strategic consideration for how to play it, because this may be a test run for Republicans refusing to relinquish control of Congress if they lose the midterms, so Dems need to figure out what their play is that puts them in the best position going into a potential constitutional crisis
kebrightbill.bsky.social
Yeah, and it's a fundamentally anti-democratic way of viewing society, combined with an especially toxic version of the Great Man theory of history, not that any of them would acknowledge either fact if challenged on it
kebrightbill.bsky.social
Yeah, and it's all a form of American exceptionalism
kebrightbill.bsky.social
Yeah, fixing that needs to be on the list of changes when Dems regain power
kebrightbill.bsky.social
If you're arguing that the laws governing swearing in by the Speaker of the House are unconstitutional and that it's an issue that Adelita Grijalva should sue over, she's said she's exploring her legal options, but claiming that anybody can swear her in and Dems are just not doing it is false.
kebrightbill.bsky.social
Aside from litigation where a judge forces Johnson to do his job, there's not some, "find any random judge or notary to swear in a House member," clause that exists and Democrats are conspiring to ignore because reasons.

Everything is a conspiracy when you don't understand how the world works.

The weirdest part about British politics is the official cabinet photos have this incredibly strange aesthetic

I really don't want to punch down, particularly at [in some cases] literal teenagers, but THESE are the images the tory paper chose to represent "young tories"?? this is who they wanted to represent the party?

we got inspector sexpest, the riddler's corporate cousin, and tesco Stephen Miller
Meet the young Tories dreaming of a bright blue future
The Conservatives know they have a problem with Gen Z voters. At the party conference, The Times met a new breed of activists who are embracing the challenge

Saw a post getting traction claiming that any judge can swear in Adelita Grijalva and therefore it's the Democrats' fault she isn't seated, and I am once again asking this site to do two seconds of research on how the House works before kneejerk blaming Dems for Republican obstruction.

Signs of the times in Chicago today: My daughter's school went on soft lockdown because of reports of ICE. Volunteers showed up at the nearby H.S. to escort people who didn't feel safe. Walking around, I saw lots of orange whistles around people's necks.

It was like everyone was salivating over the ratings possibilities of evacuees being trapped in a baseball stadium as the roof blew off, more than they cared about getting the facts right.
kebrightbill.bsky.social
It got so bad that the Rays themselves had to issue a statement that the Trop was only being used to stage for first responders, and that no, it wasn't a shelter, and even then, when the roof blew off, cable news and Twitter was convinced that the Tampa Bay area just got Katrina 2.0.
kebrightbill.bsky.social
That after the day before Milton hit, when everybody in the Tampa Bay area on Twitter were desperately trying to fact check and get cable news and Jim Cantore to stop spreading misinfo that the Trop was a shelter, lest people refuse to get on evacuation buses thinking they're going to be taken there
kebrightbill.bsky.social
One of the most annoying things about this time last year with Hurricane Milton was that while I was on social media trying to get pictures of my area, I ended up spending way too much time trying to fact check people who were convinced The Trop was Superdome 2.0 because cable spread misinformation.

I know us dying is a sacrifice you're willing to make, but I'm not going to play the model minority and nod sagely and shut up as you advocate that we've got to burn for the good of the country.

at this point i believe kf and similar platforms are run primarily on the salt and self-loathing of the B-teams of the social spaces they document.

i would fucking kill for dossiers that detailed on the people i dislike, but those don't exist because B-team AI people don't usually gossip on alts
