I am very concerned that this was one of the results of Regina's Housing Accelerator changes. Certainly, we've made it so the highest density is by-right near transit corridors. Makes some sense but it really means it's relegated to Regina's drag-racing routes. #yqrcc /1

I'm really interested to know exactly how "corridor urbanism", which is another name for focusing housing growth on our widest, loudest, and dirtiest arterial streets so other areas don't have to change, got literally baked into Washington's statewide transportation plan.
Reimagining Growth: Corridor Urbanism
Washington state is growing fast. By 2050, our urban cores and rural communities will experience
demographic and economic shifts that demand a new model of development. This plan integrates
housing and land use planning with transportation strategies to encourage growth along key
transportation corridors with mixed-use, mixed-income housing within walking distance of highcapacity transit. It suggests reformed zoning to encourage flexible, mid-scale development that
matches community context and transportation capacity. It offers strategies to streamline development
and lower development costs, which promote affordability.
By linking where people live, work, and shop with how they move, we can reduce commute times, lower
emissions, and support vibrant, walkable neighborhoods. This approach offers substantial potential
benefits: increased housing density, reduced reliance on single-occupancy vehicles, and enhanced
transit accessibility. Environmental advantages include decreased energy and water consumption
and lower carbon emissions. Studies estimate that, compared with traditional suburban development,
dwellings in mixed-income and mixed-use developments consume 39% less energy and 62% less
water. Driving is reduced by 55%, and household costs by 53%. These developments can significantly
boost the local tax base through increased property values.11 By strategically redeveloping existing
corridors, we can create more sustainable, equitable, and economically vibrant communities, alleviating
transportation pressures and fostering responsible urban growth.

I spent 99% of today underneath a cat I don't even own. When people say "I can't move because a cat is on me" I always laughed but now I GET IT.

I had this warm, purring weight wrapping itself around me like a baby and I would kill myself before I disturbed her. 🥹
Macchiato was chilling here but she was actually just waiting for me to lay down so she could sleep on me. I seem to be her preferred bed. I am pretty warm, tbh

The borders are getting weird. On the way into the US, the lines were so long that they didn't even check my passport - they just took my picture. I didn't speak to anyone coming back through Calgary.

I've received much LESS scrutiny this year. Is it bc I'm white and look "safe"? 🤷‍♀️

THIS. THIS. This is what we've been waiting for. A candidate who is talking abut the specifics of Queer history in NYC and advocating a plan to immediately protect trans persons. THIS IS HOW YOU DO IT.

UNTIL IT’S DONE, Ep. 4: Sylvia Rivera

In the 1970s, queer New Yorkers had been pushed to the margins of NYC. Our trans neighbors faced immense cruelty. But in Sylvia Rivera, they found a champion.

As we combat Trump’s politics of darkness, her legacy can light the path forward.

I know a lot of people don't like Aaron Sorkin's writing style but goddamn if this hasn't become more powerful every time I watch it.

It has real applications to our current state. History doesn't repeat, but it does rhyme.

what legal recourse do artists and museums have against international militaries stealing and using our work to commit warcrimes, since apparently that's a conversation we need to have now.

Losing my mind and what look like video game assets but instead were used to justify war crimes and genocide in the real world
NEW: Since October 2023, the IDF Spokesperson's Unit has released dozens of 3D animations illustrating alleged Hamas, Hezbollah, and Iranian sites

The style is unmistakable: satellite zoom-ins, black & white wireframes, and red-textured houses - a new visual language of war.Our analysis of 43 official IDF videos found recycled 3D environments, spatial inaccuracies, and assets lifted from unrelated artists and institutions. We traced over 30 unique assets to Washington-based 3D creator Ian Hubert, who makes bespoke models created for his sci-fi project Dynamo Dream, available to his Patreon subscribers.

Fascinating work here tracing how the IDF recycled 3D assets from a cyberpunk sci-fi art project, the Scottish Maritime Museum and elsewhere to populate its widely-seen models of supposed enemy locations in Gaza, Lebanon and Iran. One of the most infamous, the alleged underground Hamas command center at Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, used to justify an unprecedented assault on the biggest medical center in Gaza, was actually an animation the IDF had used the previous year, saying at the time it was a tunnel beneath a UN school.

Every single stereotype about white collar workers is true in my office. My co-worker just scanned his eye to get through security, while my manager is bopping into the office for a couple hours to pick up some M&Ms and get on a call. Everyone is standing around talking at all times.

The NYC office is the fanciest thing I've ever seen - more fancy than my "money coming out our ears" financial office I used to work in. They have FRIDGES built into the conference room cabinets full of diet coke.

And yet, I could not find a water machine. You want me to drink tap like a PLEB?
