Well this is frustrating… Now Aidan is sick. (Not my fault. We haven't been in the same room in a couple weeks.) So with me barely able to talk & Aidan a sickly mess, we are going to have to not do the QCIB again.

We did this once before. It was 2017 and we got then-CFO Ian Rea to explain the city budget. A lot has changed since then. Hopefully Anderson can explain mill rates to me and it'll stick this time. #yqrcc

Basically, yesterday, you had two factions on the reserve report. You had the finance committee guys who were "The sky is falling" crowd. Then you had the rest of council who were, "This seems like a pretty ordinary report." And things got SPIIIIICcccyyyy. #yqrcc

You know how this council got elected b/c they weren't going to do the drama of the last council? They were going to be civil & get work done?
Yeah, well, cracks were showing in about hour 5.5 when they were on the reserve report. Things were getting pretty snippy. Real Clash of the Titans stuff.

It really can't be said enough: the goal of the "anti-woke" movement was always to destroy social norms against bigotry. And it worked. And there's a whole lot of purportedly "left" thinkers & commentators who helped it -- indeed, it couldn't have been done without them.

They should feel bad.

Oh… and also… her first year… I think it would be fair to say that a certain amount of … stagnation had settled into city hall over the decade-plus of the Fougere Consensus. Masters shook things up when she arrived. Some of that was pretty exciting. #yqrcc /8

And yeah at the same time, admin often did not deserve the kind of interrogation they received on the floor of council. There was a lot that was messed up during those four years.

And I know y'all think Masters was The Worst but seriously, she was hella smart. #yqrcc /7
