I don't know who needs to know this, but Pro Publica has an online thing that will format a letter to your US health insurance company to demand the records behind a claim denial. (which the insurance is then legally required to provide in most cases)

If you think "No Kings" is a terrorist slogan, you need to read the Declaration of Independence.

Hello!

This is some of the best political news I've seen in a very long time.

There's a clear a way to end the Citizens United precedent by changing state incorporation laws - and now luminaries in both parties are forcing a vote on it in the 2026 election.

Not a single Democrat voted in July for the $4.5 trillion in tax cuts within President Trump’s “big, beautiful” reconciliation bill. trib.al/aiMllmQ

The only legislators who voted themselves tax cuts were Republicans—not a single Republican voted *against* the bill.

If true, maybe the Republican members of Congress need to be made aware of this.

New Jersey!! Your opportunity to vote Nov 4th for your next Governor requires that you are registered to vote by tomorrow.

If you are already registered - CHECK YOUR REGISTRATION.
Promotional graphic encouraging voter registration in New Jersey. At the top, bold black text reads “vote.nj.gov.” Below, two illustrated raised hands—one larger, one smaller—symbolize civic participation. Beneath the hands, two yellow rectangular signs with bold black text say “CHECK YOUR REGISTRATION” and “REGISTER TO VOTE NOW!” The design uses high contrast and simple imagery to promote action and engagement.

REPORTER: We know the president moved forward with mass layoffs. We're also learning there were significant cuts to staff at special education services. Are you comfortable with those cuts?

MIKE JOHNSON: I haven't seen the specifics of that and I don't know

NEW: There’s a disaster unfolding in Alaska right now. And no major network is covering it.

The remnants of Typhoon Halong battered western Alaska overnight. Homes, with people in them, have literally been swept into the Bering Strait.

At least 20 are missing. No comment from any federal agency.

I've just completed my old Dell (bought with Win8) with an Intel i3 and 16G of RAM. MS update said it was ineligible due to the CPU. It would run slow with all AI crap running by default, but after cleaning up all the unnecessary MS apps it's running pretty darn fast.

Also, toggling off many services that run in the background at start up will make it run so much snappier.

This doesn't mean your PC will run extremely fast, Win11 is a bloated operating system with all kinds of services running in the background. You can uninstall programs you don't want, like Xbox, Copilot, Office 365, etc. and really increase the responsiveness.

As the Windows 10 end of support looms, be advised that your PC can be upgraded to Win11 even if Microsoft claims it can't. Not all machines will be able to upgrade but there's a good chance that 7-8 year old PCs can be upgraded.

Microsoft really doesn't want customers to upgrade older PCs, but there are workarounds for many models. Here's everything you need to know before support ends next week.
