Yes, Donald Trump thinks we're stupid. And he's never made any secret of that fact- in fact he brags about "the uneducated" supporting him and that "smart people don't like me."

Trump has never been anything but a con artist.

Interesting that in most of the 34 US states in which child marriage is legal, divorce is not legal until you’re 18.

So in other words, you can marry a child at 15, and be guaranteed 2-3 years to rape her before she can leave.

Such an advanced, civilized, enlightened nation.

The flip side is, it could also cause some to double down on dictatorship, since at this point NOBODY'S hands are clean at ICE, CBP, the FBI or the CIA. The innocent have been fired.

Not that I expect Democrats to raise a finger. If they wouldn't prosecute for torture in 2009, why start now?

"We'll push him left after he's elected." And then for 4 years it's either "it's too soon to expect anything from him" or "elections are coming up, stop criticizing democrats." For 16 years democrats have pushed out progressives and left leaning voters while they chase right wing votes.

(For the record, I voted for Harris, because better to be one minute to midnight than to watch the mushroom cloud rise. But the Democratic Party has become steadily shittier BECAUSE they believe they don't have to change, because the only other option is Trump. We need something else.)

It's the dilemma of the two-party trap: you don't want to kick the can into the minefield. but you're not allowed to even take the can off the kicking tee, let alone get rid of the land mines.

And the only way the system lets you say you want things to change is to call in the field goal unit.

The thing is, they vastly overestimated their own lack of stupidity.

The various bungling of the Founders and the generation immediately following between 1797 and 1815 greatly accelerated the expansion of the franchise, if for no other reason than to give men like Andy Jackson ammo.
