It is a vile scandal that 2 of the biggest AI companies in the world attack children by inciting them to self-harm, and by generating sexually exploitative imagery of kids for profit. I wanted to document this so that people in tech will stop saying they don't know: www.anildash.com/2026/02/18/t...

I saw Watchmen with a group of students who had just read the graphic novel and as soon as we walked out we all started ranting

BREAKING: The Department of Education has ended its directive that attempted to restrict diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts in schools nationwide.
This is a victory for academic freedom and education equity.

This is very good news but I am confused by the Schrodinger’s Dept of Education - sometimes it exists and sometimes it is abolished
This local Wolfdog joined an Olympic ski event and triggered the finish-line camera. This is Nazgul. He snuck into a cross-country skiing sprint this morning and raced the homestretch with some competitors before being escorted home. 14/10 someone get him a medal

Leavitt: "You need an ID to go and purchase alcohol. You need an ID to go to the library and check out a book. So the president thinks you should have an ID to vote in our nation's elections."

You don’t need an ID to check out a book just proof of residency which should also be enough to vote
Working on the catering order for a university event and 50 cans of soda = $120. 4 gallons of regular ass coffee = $80. Hot water and 25 plain old tea bags = $55. These are prices plucked out of the ether with no basis in reality

My mother immigrated here from Ireland in the 50s (pre-1965 reforms, when the system was heavily rigged toward the Irish). I asked her once what it took to get a green card, and she said “I just went to the consulate.” That’s really how easy it should be.
The more of these fascist atrocities I see, the more I become an immigration maximalist. Let everyone in, give everyone work permits/green cards. Make it possible to get citizenship within a few months. Make it as easy as getting a driver's license.

The left tried for decades to pass green energy subsidies, passed them, the subsidies worked, and now literally the entire planet's electricity grid is going to convert to solar+battery. It just doesn't feel like "tech" because it mostly produces kinda boring blue collar jobs instead of billionaires

"Is there a technology the left is excited about?"
Let's see, off the top of my head:
- libraries - solar power - community-owned, community-run [noun], for example • power grids • communications networks - e-bikes - voting by mail - vaccinations - affordable health care
