I think I’d have to go the Mr Diabaté route for just a bit and ask the Others for food and experiences but minus the debauchery #Pluribus

Worked on my annual self-eval today and one part asks “what are your long-term career goals?” Stay employed? Teach 10 classes a year until I die? I dunno

Malone is now talking about the role of undocumented migrants in spreading measles.

There is no evidence of this. I am disgusted. The measles outbreak is American-grown due to declining vaccination coverage in response to disinformation.

The Desk Set party is incredible. Also the Christmas Eve party in The Thin Man and the New Year’s Eve party at the Lychee Club in After The Thin Man
deep cut, but I wanna get drunk with the ladies at the Desk Set Christmas party
What's a fictional holiday party you would love to attend?

My answers:

--the Christmas party from Fanny and Alexander
--the Yule feast in Nicola Griffith's Hild
--the Baileys' "welcome home" party for Harry in It's a Wonderful Life
--the office party in Die Hard; I'm sure nothing will go wrong

This semester I'm doing something new & possibly insane: 15-min, one-on-one, in-person, oral final exams w/ all 105 students in my fall classes. I put a Google sheet into Canvas and students selected their times. That's over 26 hours of student meetings. Why did I do this to myself? A few reasons:

Fifa boss: did you finish sculpting our peace trophy

Trophy designer: sure did boss, the world’s boiling oceans are a warning of the curse that is contained within it and the corruption of man is evident in the torn flesh of the hands, just like you asked

In Chicago, a Nativity scene features a zip-tied baby Jesus and Roman centurions in "ICE" vests.

Near Boston, Mary, Joseph, and Jesus are absent from a Nativity scene, replaced with a sign reading "ICE was here."

It's all part of growing religious blowback to ICE. religionnews.com/2025/12/05/i...
ICE Nativity scenes: Churches reimagine Christmas story amid deportations
(RNS) — 'We know that Jesus was born into a Roman imperial occupation, and pretty much immediately becomes a refugee in Egypt, has to flee and faces political violence,' the Rev. Michael Woolf said.

I’ve skipped the past few university Christmas parties because I didn’t want to be beholden to our terrible president’s bounty but this year we have a nice president who thanked the catering and tech staff and there were lots of desserts and it was fun to talk to people I don’t see every day

Me: Fine, whatever.

Outlook: "Great, I'll save it to OneDrive." Saves to Sharepoint.

Sharepoint: I have no idea what file you're talking about.

OneDrive: I've never heard of that file in my life.
