Anyway apparently I have a cold. Womp womp.
kslivensky.bsky.social
"Just admit you have a cold!"

See, I would if I had any real sense of what my body needs, but I've been so trained to ignore what my body tells me I literally don't *know* I am sick. It isn't stubbornness. It's a lifetime of ND masking. And yes, I feel bad that I'm not better at this. ☹️

It's silly that refusing to use AI is seen as such a stubborn, rebellious stance, but here we are. Fight fascists, save our planet, remind others to think for themselves, save your own brain... it's all there, in one simple act we can all do.

Just don't use AI. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

My publisher’s been very patient. I’m not doing everything I said I’d do to promote this book (out in a few weeks) because I’m an organizer in a city under federal attack. My days are full and emotionally exhausting. Any help getting the word out means a lot. It's a book people need right now.

Also, feel like I should put the word out: Massachusetts folks, under 5s can get COVID boosters! You just got to call around. They are available but at the moment the stock is more limited. With I'd say a... mediumish? amount of effort, we were able to find one for our 4yo this weekend. ❤️

Also, dang, 21 years! That's over half my life.

Still wish I'd known about it younger. But it's neat to have a word for myself that I've now been able to use for the majority of my existence. 🩶

Happy National Coming Out Day and 21st anniversary to me simultaneously learning about asexuality/realizing I am asexual.

It isn't an orientation that's always simple to come out as, as it often requires like, a PowerPoint presentation and then excruciatingly personal questions.

But yes. We exist.

Today is the National Coming Out Day.

Find out how "out" our 2022 ace respondents were to different groups.

#asexual #asexuality #ace #acecommunitysurvey #demisexual #demisexuality #graysexual #graysexuality #NationalComingOutDay
White letters that say "Being out" over a purple background and the logo of the Ace Community Survey Team (four squares colored with the asexual flag colors. The last one has a white tick over it). 53.1% of aces were out to all their current partners, while 26.1% were not out to any of their partners. Almost a quarter (23.0%) of ace respondents were out to all their ex-partners, and 45.5% had not disclosed their ace identity at all to their ex-partners.
29.9% of ace respondents were out to all people in their household, while 22.9% were out to all their parents. Few ace respondents (5.2%) were out to all other family members.
The majority of ace respondents were out to either all (45.5%), most (28.4%), or few (17.4%) of their LGBTQIA+ friends. Slightly more than three quarters (78.5%) of ace respondents were also out to at least a few of their non-LGBTQIA+ friends.
Ace respondents were rarely out to counselors (17.9% to all, 62.4% to none) teachers and school staff (2.4% to all, 81.6% to none), coworkers (3.8% to all, 69.5% to none), and medical professionals (6.6% to all, 68.9% to none).

Fast enough! WHEW!

I'm never taking the miracle of these vaccines for granted. And the luck we have of being in a state that has made it possible to get them. It's got me really emotional. Grateful and overwhelmed and still so sad at how many don't have access to these vaccines right now.

Just had a moment to myself and surprise! Tears. 😭 Emotionally checking in with myself, these are tears of relief that all four members of my family now are COVID boosted, including the 10yo and 4yo, knowing how lucky we are given everything, and the anxiety the vaxes wouldn't be available for us.

As a professor I would like to say that this prof should be yeeted into the sea.

What a lazy and insulting breach of responsibility to the students they teach.
clairezagorski.bsky.social
A student on TikTok has been documenting her journey with a professor who “wrote” the anatomy textbook and it’s all a bunch of AI hallucinations.

She’s saying that, understandably, the students are doing super poorly!

Behold what we’re teaching the healthcare professionals of tomorrow:
A diagram of the bones and (some) deep muscles of the hand and forearm. AI says that we only have four digits. It’s also identified a tendon as the median nerve, another tendon as the ulnar nerve, among other issues. An AI generated diagram of the muscles of the neck. It hallucinated the “ennocleidomasid” muscle, and the “anterior scalpalin muscle”. An AI generated diagram of the muscles of the lateral thigh. It says that the gluteus Maximus (the big juicy butt muscle) is on the anterior side. It also points to the quadriceps muscle and says “attattment”. It also says that the same structure is the tibia AND the deep fascia of the leg. An AI generated diagram of the bones of the hand and forearm. This time AI says we have 6 digits. It also says that the radius is the ulnar artery. Among other many issues.

SUCCESS!!!! No tears, even! BOOYA.

Ahhhh, the relief is palpable.

We went to @portersqbooks.bsky.social to celebrate, of course.

Fingers crossed, in less than an hour, this little dude will receive his COVID booster. 🤞🤞🤞

Ok, did not expect “The Lion The Witch and the Wardrobe” to feel quite so relevant to this moment.

Here’s Edmund, deciding to side with the leader who he’s been told disappears people.
He did want Turkish Delight and to be a prince (and later a king) and to pay Peter out for calling him a beast. As for what the Witch would do with the others, he didn't want her to be particularly nice to them - certainly not to put them on the same level as himself; but he managed to believe, or to pretend he believed, that she wouldn't do anything very bad to them, 'Because,' he said to himself, 'all these people who say nasty things about her are her enemies and probably half of it isn't true. She was jolly nice to me, anyway, much nicer than they are. I expect she is the rightful Queen really. Anyway, she'll be better than that awful Aslan!' At least, that was the excuse he made in his own mind for what he was doing. It wasn't a very good excuse, however, for deep down inside him he really knew that the White Witch was bad and cruel.
