I saw this earlier today and had to make it straight away. I didn’t have mung beans so I used lentils and it is gorgeous! And so easy to make. Thank you so much for sharing this. Going to add mung beans to the shopping list to try it as intended.

One of the people killed by Soldier F was a man who stepped out to help another of his victims as he lay dying in the street. He waved a white handkerchief as he did so. Soldier F shot him in the head. His name was Barney McGuigan and today his family had to listen to a judge acquit his killer.

Bad day for the rule of law. The state can murder you in front of witness, cameras, frustrate justice for years, oversee destroying evidence and then put it 53 year later before a jury less trial to give themselves the green light about it all. And I have to pay my taxes to fund it

I have been traveling and today I present to you...the thing I saw in the Frankfurt airport.

Is it efficient? Undeniably. Does it probably work better than the normal way? Oh certainly. Produce less of a mess? Probably?

But the existence of Condiment Udders gives me a deep, aghast disquiet.

A hotdog and pretzel stand with large hanging bottles of mustard, ketchup, and mayonnaise. The bottoms contain squeeze tubes to dispense the condiments.

I haven’t yet figured out the acceptable way to take a compliment in Germany so I vacillate between the American way (“thank you”) and the Irish way (accusing the person of a gross distortion while listing all the ways I’m actually the worst human being on the planet.)

It's all just so frustrating and predictable, isn't it? For years people have been warning of the far right rising in Ireland and we've been laughed at and dismissed by the media and the government. In turn, the govt. have not acted, have treated right wing agitators with kid gloves.

My experience is somewhat similar. Growing up in Southwest Philly, we had Polish neighbors. Sooo many of the foods I love are Polish in origin.

One of the things I love the most about living in Germany is how close we are to Poland. Today we stopped in a little hole in the wall stand on the Polish border and had delicious pierogie. We brought smoked sausages, coleslaw and potato salad home for dinner. So yummy.
