Hello again, Bluesky. I'm a hyperlocal historian & citizen archaeologist hailing from Philadelphia. I'm a musician & sometimes photographer, a founder of several internet communities revolving around NIN, an enterprise ecommerce guy, and I clean up the trash on my street.
This is a photo of me that my buddy Mikey Mongol took as part of a shoot for The Boghouse podcast. I'm standing against an 18th century wall on the first floor of my home.

When you don't pay attention, when you opt out, you leave people like this to take control.

Johnson: "We call it the Hate America Rally that will happen Saturday. Let's see who shows up for that. I bet you you'll see Hamas supporters, I bet you'll see antifa types, I bet you'll see Marxists on full display, people who don't want to stand and defend the foundational truths of this republic"

Every now and then - and it's years between occurrences - I will get drawn in by egregious nostalgia bait and purchase something I absolutely do not need. Even though I know it's not a real floppy disk, and I just listen to FLAC files now, and I can't read Japanese, I bought this & it made me happy.

I don't know whether to boo or to cheer Disney and their ilk. I had an anti-RIAA sticker on my car in 1999. Someone on Facebook yelled "what about copyright!" at me for sharing a scan of a 1927 photo I bought on eBay. Is AI slop "derivative work" if you're not actually doing any work? WHAT IS WORK?

IP laws were complicated enough when you didn't have to factor in slop factories built to meet the demands of an audience that's chronically 12 years old

Disney feasting on public domain IP while slamming that door shut, finds their entire ouvre a mere crumb on the table of OmniMechaDisneyIsh "AI"

Promoting the editor-in-chief's personal side project. Zero named sources in a story that promotes the editor-in-chief's personal political position. Misspelling the subject's name. It took one day for CBS News to become a conservative blog.

I sometimes think that a lot of the irreconcilable differences in society roughly boil down to the tension between people who think no one (including themselves) really understands anything, and the people who think "no one understands anything except me, and I am very sure of myself."

One thing I'm thankful for is that somehow, there is a limit to lying with these creeps. For as much as they test the law, there's still some awareness of facts that will induce squirming in a weasel. He could just lie! That he doesn't just lie shows that there is still some kind of path to justice.

STEPHANOPOULOS: I didn't insinuate anything. I asked you whether Tom Homan accepted $50k as was heard on an audio tape recorded by the FBI in September 2024. You did not answer the question. Thank you for your time.

Rep. Van Orden: "Listen, at this point the Nobel Peace Prize does not deserve Donald Trump. It's just shocking and so in your face. I mean, this guy has done more for world peace in 9 months any any president in history. Period. And it should be recognized. But unfortunately he's not a globalist."

Speaker Mike Johnson, standing next to Emmer here, urged Democrats less than a month ago to "turn down their rhetoric," saying, "Nazis and fascists is not helpful."

As such, striking to see him stand quietly as a fellow Republican insists there is a "terrorist wing" of the Democratic Party.

It’s because of these assholes that I’ll be attending my first No Kings rally on October 18. I value my rights so much I’m doing what I think is the best course of action to preserve them, which is the opposite of “hating the country”.

The House Majority Whip is also insisting that a peaceful "No Kings" demonstration is in fact a "hate America rally" held for the "terrorist wing" of the Democratic Party.

Really feels like they're trying to manifest a violent reaction to it.

Trying to scare people. But it won't work. No one looks scared to me anymore. And it's power in numbers. All the TV hits in the world won't change the fact that when Americans see the sheer number of people out there, absolutely no one will believe anything these guys say.

Sen. Roger Marshall: "October 18 is when the protest gets here. This will be a Soros paid-for protest for his professional protesters. The agitators show up. We'll have to get the National Guard out. Hopefully it will be peaceful. I doubt it."

TFW you paid $1400 to see Beckett’s most famous work without knowing anything about it
One Star Review of Waiting for Godot on Broadway
I recently attended Waiting for Godot on Broadway and spent over $1,400 for two Row C seats (103 and 104). I'm a longtime admirer of Broadway productions and even hold a season pass for Shea's Performing Arts Theatre, so I came in with genuine enthusiasm and high expectations. Unfortunately, this show was unlike anything ! have ever experienced —and not in a good way.
What I encountered was not the artistry, music, or emotional storytelling I usually associate with Broadway, but instead what felt like an endless cycle of nonsensical conversation between characters who seemed trapped in their own madness. I tried-truly tried-to find meaning, symbolism, or even a thread of emotional resonance. I stayed through the first half hoping the second would offer clarity. But by intermission, it was clear: this was a waste of both time and money.
Keanu Reeves is an actor I respect greatly, but I cannot fathom why he would agree to participate in such a disjointed, inaccessible production. His talent was lost in a performance that defied reason rather than provoked insight.
To anyone considering attending: unless you are drawn to highly abstract, nearly incomprehensible theater, I strongly caution you against this show. For the average, educated, thoughtful theatergoer, it is far more frustrating than fulfilling. In my opinion, this was the single most disappointing Broadway experience I've ever had - an unfortunate waste of money and, more importantly, of time.

My favorite response to phone scams that pretend to be law enforcement is, "You know what I'll just come to the office and let's do this in person."

"if you do that, you'll be arrested!"

"Boy, if I need to go to jail because you say I wasn't at some grand jury on Friday, so be it."
