Renewable generation and pumped storage equalled 11% of yesterday's electricity demand, with a peak of 16% at 04:00. Fossil fuel generation (mostly gas) equalled 62% of demand. 0% of generation was exported, 27% of demand was met by imports.

In a woodland I was helping establish into Burren lowland grassland, there was a stage of massive bracken in that transition between biggish trees in the long grass and woodland. So the trees were well above the bracken. Years 16 to 20, give or take. It marked the end of the grass.

Perhaps if the media didn't keep asking the same damn questions of Connolly, and asked the former minister more questions about why she was so unpopular with environmentalists, people with disabilities, animal rescues it might be more interesting.

I honestly feel many people are sick of performatively confrontational presidential candidate debates.

The constant interruptions, prickly haranguing, random hypotheticals, repetitive dredging of controversy instead of hearing about values, character, vision.

We deserve smarter discourse.

A report by the International Energy Agency has found that residential electricity prices in Ireland are three times higher than the wholesale cost.
The IEA said 'some countries promptly passed wholesale price increases on to consumers' and this disparity was the largest in Ireland.
