I’m convinced that it will come out one day that the Queen was warned that his links with Epstein were a security risk but she wouldn’t hear any criticism of her favourite.
Yeah not a monarchist but they should have been allowed to get married 50 years ago. They clearly do love each other, and much of the subsequent drama would never have happened. Diana would have been a minor socialite now likely living in obscurity

Twitter (and then X) was never 'representative' in the sense that its user base skewed to the liberal-left, but the content that is now amplified on there has swung to the far right. This is giving a distorted signal of public opinion.

See this fascinating recent study from the US ->
In short, the ANES data shows:
📉 Social media use is shrinking
💥 Twitter/X posting has moved ~50 points to the right
🧩 Platforms are splintering
🔊 Fewer people are talking — but those still talking are more politically extreme
Absolutely, what could possibly go wrong?

Reluctant to give Question Time any time - save for this:
Man with stubble, "Small boats arrivals are 37,000. There are over 4 million kids in child poverty. And 4.5 million who can't get a dentist appointment" #BBCQT

"We spend 90% of the media discourse on the 37,000. How much more could we achieve if we put that effort into the 4.5 million?"

gosh, the dignity of Virginia Guiffre's brother and sister-in-law on #Newsnight is very moving. Well done, Newsnight, for centring them.
It’s a real cursed lineage, the Battenburgs went through a series of morganatic marriages, then Charles’ Great Grandad got lucky and married a daughter of Victoria and became First Sea Lord, but he was unfairly blamed for the naval disasters at the start of WW1 and was pushed out!

Blows my mind that they can announce he’s no longer a Prince but nobody’s willing to tell us why. The cunt needs jailing, not early fucking retirement.
A decade ago they could have got him to do a sham marriage to a Catholic, automatic exclusion, then a quickie divorce and problem solved.

(This is meant as a joke in case anyone gets offended 🙃)
I’m convinced there’s a bigger scandal, the Queen was warned about Epstein’s rumoured links to intelligence agencies and that Andrew was a security risk, but she refused to tell him to cut his links with him. They’d be desperate to stop that from coming out…

Have noted this before but what's fascinating to me is how closely this tracks the way the Brexit vote has been treated in the UK, except there was at least *some* argument for it to be treated as a special kind of vote overriding normal general elections. 2024 was just a normal election!
These people are explicitly framing the 2024 presidential election as “whoops you were voting to suspend all laws but the whim of the monarch, which by the way we have now, and you didn’t even realize it.”
Shankar puts a lot emphasis on the idea that what ICE is doing has, in his view, democratic legitimacy. "I think a lot of the policies, a lot of things that people are struggling with right now in the U.S. were voted on at the ballot box. What ICE is doing was voted on at the ballot box."

I imagine if Jesus met David Barton he'd forgo any former addiction to pacifism, yell "you ain't no Christian bruv" and nut him.
Christian nationalist pseudo-historian David Barton says that, on a scale of 1 to 10, he'd rank Trump's presidency "about a 435" and brags that after he was invited to brief the State Department on this history of foreign aid, they gutted USAID: "This might have happened in my dreams."
The people who idealised “buccaneering,” never seemed to realise that most of those who did it ended up on a yardarm….
One of the drivers of Brexit was a resentment of geography, that we were too important to be lumped in with boring Europe and we needed to be involved elsewhere 🙄
