My 'free' car costs me £77.05 a week.
I get it because I can't walk far unaided. Period.
Other money can be awarded for mental health, mobility & practical issues, but NOT the car. There are 2 awards: Daily living and mobility. The car award is based ENTIRELY on the mobility award. HW is an idiot.

also poverty is so bad in the disabled community that lots of people who could very much do with a motability car, and are eligible for one, can’t use their mobility allowance for that because they need to use it to pay rent and buy food even tho that’s not what the money is for

you need to apply for one, they take a portion of your benefits in return, and most people with one have physical disabilities not just anxiety

Also cars on the mobility scheme are not free. The cost is taken from the recipients mobility allowance, which if it is insufficient to cover the cost of the lease will require topping up by the individual.

Not so long ago, Jenrick would have been sacked by now. His comments were racially selective and many will say racist, failed to mention other parts of white majority Britain and he further stigmatised ethnic communities. But in these times he’s still being talked about as a next leader.
