Btw my Nana texted me a couple days ago. Because she has an iPad, which she absolutely does know how to use! I wish we lived in a just world because she would’ve discovered the cure for cancer or something.

Relatedly I think about my Nana’s lifespan a lot. She was born in 1928 and is still with us. She voted for Adlai Stevenson! Also her father lived from 1878-1975, which in some ways is an even wilder period to experience. He never learned to drive because cars were invented when he was an adult!

Oh yes, frequently! She’s told me all about going to school in a one-room schoolhouse, the local lady who wasn’t called a midwife but would come and help with births, driving to the store in a horse-drawn cart since her parents didn’t drive…she’s got so many stories!

Mine is just a couple months older than yours, and yes, she’s smart as ever (sincerely I think she could have been a nuclear physicist if she hadn’t grown up in poverty and left school to work). She remembers the 1930s like it was yesterday.
