So, 2 things:

1. Glad a reporter asked about this.

2. The reporter ultimately didn't ask Johnson a moral/religious question, but a technical policy one. Given Johnson's background, worth asking him *specifically* if he supports shooting clergy w/pepper balls and if it's a religious liberty concern

Q: We've seen images out of Chicago of federal agents shooting faith leaders with pepper balls and arresting journalists. Where's the limit for you on what's acceptable conduct by federal agents?

MIKE JOHNSON: I've not seen them cross the line yet.

Democrats are ready to stop the price of your health care insurance from skyrocketing and reopen the government. But Senate Republicans refuse to hold a vote to lower health care costs–the House GOP isn’t even showing up to work.

They need to get serious and come to the negotiating table.

Dear author who's deleting, rewriting, and inserting whole sentences during the proofreading stage:

If you wanted the text to say something completely different, why didn't you write it that way the first time?

A satisfying takedown of all things Bari, but I especially enjoyed the description of Skydance failson David Ellison as having "resting checking-into-the-White-Lotus face."

Promoting the editor-in-chief's personal side project. Zero named sources in a story that promotes the editor-in-chief's personal political position. Misspelling the subject's name. It took one day for CBS News to become a conservative blog.

By “this has got to come to an end” he means opposition to Republicans’ destruction of the country. They seek subjugation.

Mike Johnson: "This hate America rally that they have coming up for October 18? The antifa crowd, the pro-Hamas crowd, and the Marxists, they're all gonna gather on the Mall. It is an outrageous gathering for outrageous purposes ... all this has gotta come to an end."

The Rutgers TPUSA chapter — whose characterization of a historian there as a “outspoken, well-known antifa member” led to death threats and moving his family to Europe — think *other* people are being “blatantly defamatory.”

Not them, though. They’re doing politics the right way.

People are making light of this, and I get it, but some of my most profound experiences of something bigger than myself have been my times with migrants. I am not a religious person, but I have spent time with Jesuits, Sikhs, and Friends who serve migrants and we had a great deal in common.

The Mark Bray situation is so completely fucked right now and if you're a journalist you need to start saying how it's fucked because you're fucking next. They won't stop at academics.

When prices were going up under Biden there was a constant deluge of news stories about it because the media did not like Biden and wanted him to lose. Under Trump there is not a constant deluge of news stories about coffee prices because they like Trump and want him to win

everything is on fire these days, sure, but how is it that 50% of all news stories are not about how I just spent $20 on a bag of store brand coffee at fucking costco

They’ve updated it with her name. Turns out she interns with the Ciattarelli campaign (of course she does) and is sorry for the doxxing but remains proud of the name calling and the campaign to pressure the school to fire him.

It’s part of this bizarro mindset that is trying to claim Christianly as a narrow political party rather than a serious spiritual practice. Reminds me of the many conservatives who dismiss regular Mass-attending Biden’s faith because he’s politically liberal.

Also why should a president’s uninformed opinion about entertainment at a private sports event even be published as news? Politico’s the one giving him celebrity coverage. They could focus their reporting on his areas of expertise, like the Epstein files or the illegal military occupation of cites.
