The judges are getting good at this.

HUGE. A victory for more than a quarter million Haitians with Temporary Protected Status. A significant majority of them entered the United States legally and have never been out of status since.

Even the Trump admin isn't saying Haiti is a safe country for them to go back to.
BREAKING: Judge Ana Reyes, in DC, issues a stay of DHS Sec. Noem’s decision to end Haiti’s temporary protected status (TPS) designation, a decision that was to go into effect on Tuesday and could have ended legal status for up to 350,000 people overnight. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

Big TPM energy

Seems like a prick
February 2, 2026 at 3:32 PM
yeah. Like, it’s okay not to know as much about something as someone who literally wrote the book on it. That’s why we have books!

Get in my replies with good mutual aid fundraisers and I’ll share them.
Tens of thousands of people across Tennessee, Mississippi and Louisiana have gone a week without power or heat after a brutal ice storm. At least three dozen people have died in connection with the storm, officials have said.
Fear and Anger Grow as Thousands Remain Without Power in the South
More than 30 people have died across three Southern states in connection with last week’s storm, and thousands remain without power.

Rep. Kelly Morrison, is a practicing M.D. Her description of conditions in the Whipple detention facility are horrifying.
Here is a rough transcript of the video she just posted. @kellymorrisonmn.bsky.social

lol it didn’t take long. What a pathetic thing to do

Love this song! It’s a regular listen for me. One of a few I’d listen to whenever I was crossing the Ebro.

Lmao the TPM “journalist”
Blocked me. Journalism is when you defend your ignorance by hiding from the truth.
Not to be a dick, but I’ve written a book on the 1936 boycott and it was the subject of my PhD and this isn’t really a useful or accurate comparison.

My book on the popular Olympics is easy to find in a library. There’s no need to buy it, it’s overpriced and academic publishing is exploitative.

If you’d like to know about American athletes who fought fascism here is one example in a piece I wrote for @lincolnbrigade.bsky.social albavolunteer.org/2022/05/chic...
Chick Chakin’s Last Chance - The Volunteer
Like many participants in the 1936 Popular Olympics in Barcelona, Alfred Chakin was a talented athlete. He was also a committed antifascist.

He ended up racing horses and worked as a janitor at a point. There is no shame in manual labor, but he wasn’t treated as a hero for whatever perceived damage he did to the fascist myth of aryan supremacy.

Libs tend to like to make a big thing of Owens because it’s easier than accepting that the USA sent a team to the Berlin games when it was very obvious that they were helping in a fascist project by doing so. Owen’s returned home to the same segregation and bigotry he left.
February 2, 2026 at 5:31 AM
Idgaf. Why would I want to see more ignorant takes?
February 2, 2026 at 5:27 AM
A musician does not have a very short window at the top of their game that they have to choose how to lose. Nor in this instance is there a choice between the segregation and poverty at home and fascism abroad. Nor is there a large scale boycott of the Super Bowl by athletes
February 2, 2026 at 5:25 AM
Two things can be bad.

Fwiw the people who felt most strongly that fascism was evil went to Barcelona, like Charlie Burley, but it’s entirely understandable that Owens went to Berlin.

at the ICE protest tonight in Portland, after we all got gassed, I found what I thought was a zippo pouch. It is in fact a medicine bag, in the indigenous use of the term. I only opened it enough to find that out.

If you know who belongs to this let me know and I can get it back to them.

The LDS is not anti migrant
February 2, 2026 at 4:07 AM
He has always been pretty consistent about this actually. He was somewhat supportive of BLM and compared Trump to Hitler when discussing the 2018 migrant caravan as well iirc

Protecting people from ICE I should have said.
February 1, 2026 at 11:05 PM
It’s not how the law works, and there seems to be a perception that somehow Minnesota cops are protecting people. This isn’t the case, it was HCSO who kettled protesters and press last week!
