Studying, writing on, & warning about the Christian Supremacist right since 2004. Before that, in late 90s I warned of global warming. Now, I'm hunkering down to weather the storm, & raising giant isopods in my basement, for fun and profit.

Bitcoin are somewhat analogous to tulips at the height of the Dutch Tulip Mania - they're speculative assets given value by the madness of crowds. S.4912 would require the USG to trade dollars for bitcoin that billionaire techbros own (b/c they, or their pals, created bitcoin, out of thin air)...
GQP has introduced S.4912 that will allow billionaires to fleece the US. Please call your senators and congress-people and tell them to oppose the BITCOIN Act!!! They want to create a repository that WE will *buy* Crypto Bitcoins that these billionaires and cartels can't sell!

ICE/CBP have gone unfunded for 3 days; how about 3 years? The best way to claw back the $170 billion immigration enforcement surge in the Big Beautiful Bill is to just claw it back. The 2nd-best way is to slowly drain it by never funding the underlying appropriation. @ryanlcooper.com makes the case:

Under Massachusetts Governor Healey, the Bay State has led the nation with at least 2 triumphant "firsts": the first and only state to make an official contract with ICE, and the first state to incorporate the use of AI into state government.
#Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey, who is up for reelection this year, will forcefully criticize ICE and the Trump administration—what she won't do is stop working with them.

Authors must continuously examine the logical coherence of their ideas as they write. Failing this produces gibberish. Using AI in the writing process is a type of self-lobotomy.
Writing is thinking.

It's not some marginal boring task you can skip. It's the heart of it.
It’s easy to think writing is mainly the transcription of ideas you already have—that is, until you try to write something worthwhile, and you find what you thought were saying transform into something far more interesting in the process. This skips that last step, and that is *not* an improvement.

These are not the priorities of the American people. They are the priorities of the Trump Administration, which is waging an undeclared war on the majority of Americans.
Ghislaine Maxwell, a convicted child sex trafficker, gets gardening time, sports, therapy dogs, and spa products in prison.

Migrant children in custody are sleeping on concrete floors without enough food or clean water.

Our priorities are so fucked.

As political scientist Thomas Zimmer explains, Ezra Klein's "we have to learn to listen to, & learn to live, with each other" shtick is BS, because the American right rejects coexistence; it is bent on subjugating & crushing its opponents.
The key problem with what Ezra Klein says here is that he fails – or is unwilling – to grapple with the fundamental reality of the political conflict: The movement that dominates today’s Right fully rejects the very idea of “living here with each other” as equals. That’s their defining position.
"All I can say for me in the work I do is that I want to create a space that takes our disagreements seriously, that takes the stakes of them seriously, the consequences for people seriously, but does so without deepening our divisions irreparably. We are going to have to live here with each other"

Urge your reps to ban Surveillance Pricing and boycott any business that uses it. If it’s allowed to take root, you will be robbed for the rest of your lives.
(1/11) If you live in NY, you’ve probably started seeing a new warning: “THIS PRICE WAS SET BY AN ALGORITHM USING YOUR PERSONAL DATA.” This mandatory disclosure went into effect late last year, and it’s the first attempt by a US state to grapple with a new generation of surveillance pricing.

A disastrously dumb decision.
BIG NEWS: We’re partnering with Open AI to launch a phased rollout of a ChatGPT-powered AI assistant for state workers – the first state in the nation to do it.

AI is here. Let’s use it as a tool to make government work faster and better for the people of Massachusetts.

Guess what this 2nd benefit show is for.
I'm at their second benefit show right now. (They just opened their 3rd set with "American Idiot.) These white suburban parents are wearing t-shirts with slogans like "RADICALIZED BY BASIC HUMAN DECENCY" and "NO ONE IS ILLEGAL ON STOLEN LAND BUILT BY STOLEN HANDS." (4/?)

They assaulted and injured a person, damaged a car, and then left. That’s not legal‼️

Meet Texas Republican, Bo French.

One of his favorite phrases is “third world savages”—which he has applied to Afghan asylum seekers, Muslims, and even Native Americans, who he also wants deported.

He might win statewide office in Texas.
He Wants to Deport 100 Million “Third World Savages.” He May Win Statewide Office in Texas.
He calls his opponents “gay” and “retarded,” and he wants to deport 100 million “third world savages.” Naturally, he’s running for railroad commissioner.

Even before the addition of AI, the obsession with data was warping outcomes, simply b/c the absurd amount of time teachers had to spend generating fat tomes of "data" reduced the amount of time they had to actually *teach*.
How many times, in how many contexts, in how many ways am I going to have to say that this is what "AI" does— what it fundamentally *is*— before it sinks in? That all Bullshit engines do is statistically correlate training data & inputs via their weights to produce outputs you are likely to accept…

When the billionaires have most of the money, they'll face a political challenge from the impoverished masses; hence the giant prisons.
Someone has sure already made this observation but the fact they can convert all those empty warehouses into prison camps means they could have converted them into housing, community centers, job training centers or, hell, libraries or schools all along. It’s always a matter of will not resources.

Oh, to be a fat Grizzly lazily floating downstream past schools of delicious sashimi.
Franzi Schimmer captured this Grizzly bear in Brooks Falls, Alaska just floating along, tippy-tapping down the river, browsing the salmon.

Prior to hibernation, up to 40% of a bear's body mass is fat, which is less dense than water (~0.9 g/cm^2), so the murder-monster is also a floaty-boaty.

I think it's fair to say that most people with a family income of $100,000 or less are EXTREMELY aware of inflationary increases in the price of groceries, gasoline, electricity, natural gas, heating oil, health insurance...

This is what an authoritarian police state does
SCOTUS effectively OK’ed third-country removals as the Trump admin is using them on the shadow docket, staying lower court orders reining them in. Further, the specific questions raised here — about refoulement — have come up before, like in this case: www.lawdork.com/p/ghana-refo...
NYT: Trump secretly deported 9 migrants despite court orders to not remove them to their home nations. So, he sent them to prison in Cameroon: www.nytimes.com/2026/02/14/w...

This New Republic article credulously parrots Graham Platner's claim that his tattoo was "a tattoo he had unknowingly gotten of a Nazi symbol". He would show it off at parties as "my totenkopf" (an SS symbol.) There's got to be a big wad of cash secretly driving the NR push to rehabilitate Platner.
