This is depressing. I'm editing a document to remove — em dashes (which I originally typed!) because naive folk will mistakenly think they are always a 'tell' for AI written content. They can indicate AI writing, but not always as AI uses them because people did originally.

How trans visibility became a trap. Grim stuff.

"She’s pointing to a cruel irony: the content that could help trans people is often the most vulnerable to disappearing, while the content that could hurt us gets preserved forever by those who wish us harm."

If anyone needs me I will be in the museum, lying down next to the bog bodies.
Did people really memorize phone numbers before cell phones, or is that just a movie thing?
2? Questions
I was watching some old shows from the 90s and noticed people would just dial numbers from memory - like they'd call their friends or family without looking anything up.
Made me wonder if that was actually normal back then? Did people genuinely have all their important numbers memorized, or did most folks keep a little address book or written list nearby?

I hate how accurate this is

In the 2010s, this country's elites were thrown onto social platforms with everyone else and could finally read what we all think about them and it caused them so much psychic damage that they decided to destroy both the internet and democracy to make sure nothing like it ever happened again.

Is it worth paying for a vaccine booster if I’m in my 40s and generally healthy and have never had Covid to my knowledge? I feel like the peace of mind might be worth it.

Judge Jeannette Vargas said the lyrics in Lamar’s Not Like Us, which refers to Drake as a “certified paedophile”, were a matter of opinion, which could not be “actionable defamation”.

I know he was lobbying hard, but did anyone really expect Trump to get the Nobel Peace Prize?

Maybe next year if the Gaza ceasefire leads to lasting peace in the Middle East... and if he stops deploying military in his own cities... and stops sinking boats in the Caribbean... he'll have a chance.

If the only bitcoin I own is a tiny (like $1 at the time) amount given to me by ‘Bitcoin Jesus’ in a demo about 12 years ago, does that make it holy bitcoin?

The Meta AI app opened up in the UK this week and, yes, Vibes is as bad as I suspected.

Just why?! At least OpenAI's Sora plays to your ego by letting you (me) create AI versions of yourself (myself) in skits about turnips.
An AI slop lizard dancing in an orange coat. In Meta AI’s Vibes feed. Me in a field. The bottom half of me is a turnip. In OpenAI’s Sora.
