I've been a healthcare writer and a cybersecurity writer over the years and both have taught me more shit to keep me up at night than I care to admit but "wait the whole internet is basically built on AWS?" was one of the ones that gave me the worst agita when I learned about it.

I need to mention something that happened yesterday. I had a negative review of my game & an irate player in my Discord, talking about bugs they claimed were longstanding, mentioned all over Steam and Reddit, and never fixed. After some probing they admitted they had been asking ChatGPT for hints.
CHATGPT IS NOT A FUCKING SEARCH ENGINE
After we had to cancel our flight last week Steph said her first thought was "what can we do so Matt doesn't panic" and that's why we painted the kitchen and cleared out the basement on our vacation.

People are very lucky that I do not write the headlines for these stories because there is no way I could write a headline for a story about a surveillance company called First Wap without turning it into a Megan Thee Stallion joke: revealnews.org/podcast/cell...

No matter what I'm doing for work I never take enough time off because if I do my brain starts plotting an escape from normal life and I just come back to reality deeply depressed. It's a bit better if I'm traveling cos that's so detached from reality but otherwise the rest isn't worth the crash.

Our federal tax dollars are being used to fund a network of government social media accounts that pump out disinformation 24/7. Even during a government shutdown. It’s definitely not essential work.

In case you're looking for some accounts to block... blacksky.community/profile/did:...
Just took a stroll through all those newly minted dot gov accounts and yeah, just block 'em. Every single one of them is aggressively populated with cartoon villain level propaganda. Don't give 'em the oxygen.
I know I should be more active in the author world on socials but I'll be honest, I've been talking nerd stuff on a small old-school pre-social media style forum for the past few months and it's so much less stressful I forget about the pressures of feeling like I need to be constantly marketing.

You absolutely must click through and read their essay, which is, in appropriately boomerish fashion, in all-caps. Never change, Grant Morrison
And her phrasing was "get this off my plate so I don't eat it first" so we walked RIGHT into that
I joke about the scar tissue of growing up Catholic but my partner, not wanting the rest of the bread she had with dinner, hands it to me and says "this bread from me and eat it" and my brain immediately blurted out "this is my body" and I'm going to be laughing about this the rest of the weekend

An ICE agent, who is being arrested for drunk driving and nearly killing his little kids & others, tries to stop the arrest by racially profiling the officers arresting him. Amazing to watch the courtesy given to him as he is belligerent and uncooperative
Three episodes into Campaign 4 and I found myself thinking this is as much watching literature being crafted in real time as it is an actual play. (Folks outside of the TTRPG sphere really need to consider it as much a medium for storytelling as books, film, etc.)
Telling a friend that being a DM includes good natured bullying directed at the DM and how I can’t see my own screen name in our chat so the players screen cap when I forget what they changed my name to:
