About a month ago, the Trump administration got rid of the de minimis exemption, whereby packages valued under $800 could slide in without import duties. Now there's a backlog as the government can't process all of this paperwork, leading to UPS just destroying packages

Sex ed for young children focuses on teaching kids what touching is inappropriate and what to do about it, which *fights* child sex abuse. LGBTQ+ inclusion fights bullying.

These bigots call it "grooming" to teach kids to not bully and to report sexual abuse.

My nephew was diagnosed with autism over the course of this last week.

My niece had been diagnosed with autism a few months ago.

Thankfully, they live in Minnesota, but even with that, this still fucks them-and entirely too many other people-over for what? To line the pockets of the ultra wealthy?

The end of federal enforcement of special ed laws. Some states - including MN - will likely be ok. But a lot of disabled kids in a lot of states are going to lose the education that federal law and decades of jurisprudence say they are owed.

Even in states like MN you're going to have problems because they are going to gut the (already too small) SPED budget next. It's hard to provide these services (which have absolutely skyrocketed in cost in the last decade) in the context of a district budget as it is. Cutting 10% of the funding.

Basic support for special ed was a key part of the bipartisan consensus around disability rights dating back decades. Current gop lawmakers and scotus judges have played key roles recently in supporting those rights. But what use are rights without enforcement?
