Friends, if you must assign a diagnosis to Trump and Musk (I don't recommend it), may I suggest calling them megalomaniacs? It's an outdated term in psychology, so you won't be stigmatizing entire groups of people at least. It's also probably closer to accurate than the armchair diagnoses I see.

UNPLANNED Rural ED closures are becoming more and more frequent such that govt isn't even talking about it or looking into solutions
It simply has become the new norm
If you live in more Urban areas these closures impact your Access too, as pts have to go there for care

The Moral Distress for the EMS crews should not be downplayed - imagine if your job is to expertly stabilize and transport, but you frequently have nowhere to transport very sick pts to?
Or your transport times are so long you frequently leave huge areas w no EMS coverage?

These Rural EDs cover VERY LARGE geographic areas, so there are MANY ABs at risk when they close.
These Rural EDs exist in strategic ways to maximize coverage and to share services.
Many times mulitple EDs close in the same zones, leaving HUGE swaths uncovered!

The high volume accounts don't usually have time to reply to comments, so I generally forgive them. And I honestly think politicians should be too busy to reply to everything. As long as their offices reply to emails from constituents, I'm happy.
