My kiddo's favorite form of stimming is humming and singing and she has an incredible memory for music with her echolalia. Which means she now hums the Poirot theme a lot. She only does this with songs she likes a lot.

This one. I'm lucky to have worked with some very good marketing folks but they've had to go independent because pubs are not putting in the time/effort/$. The best you can do: talk up the books you like/love irl and online.

In all seriousness, publishers are going to have to figure out how to market books in the post-social-media landscape. That should be an implicit part of their job. What authors/artists can do on their own is increasingly limited and siloed.

It's extremely obvious to me that neurodivergence is why we are able to function as societies at all. And I mean that beyond things like exceptional thinking or hyper fixations leading to breakthroughs. I mean just in the fact that when we care for one another we thrive.

And the thing is? Neurotypical kids benefit from environments that benefit neurodivergent kids when they're compassionate and based in support for different learning styles and levels.

Neurodivergence makes it obvious that everyone does not learn and develop the same way and that "normal" is a useless term. So is the entire concept genetic "superiority" but that's a whole other thing.

Other than the obvious eugenics, I think one of the reasons acknowledging that neurodivergence is actually a normal part of humanity is that it has led to people questioning everything from ableism to child rearing practices to education and even how society functions as a whole.

Like yeah, firing all the experts from the CDC makes zero sense if your goal is keeping people healthy. But that's not the goal, therefore that's not what they're doing. I think people have to stop trying to make any of their goals/intentions be normal and humane. They aren't.

Since @pookleblinky.bsky.social thread about teleological thinking and how it applies to this admin & our assumptions was very useful. Their goal is a government that only functions to support the rich fascists. If you just remember that's the goal, then all the weird decisions & chaos is clear.

Also, when I was sexually harassed in middle-school and HS, my harasser specifically said "close your legs, the flies are coming in" and so I have maybe a strong reaction to that. I was a very clean kid & teen, obsessively in fact. So. Yeah.
