one thing that's kind of hard about doing this is, yeah, it's a neat flex, but it'd take way too much time to talk about why i'm doing it to folks outside the project, so i kinda just... don't.

hopefully when i can demo this fucker it'll all make sense to everyone.

Like, is their a hypothetical way that LLMs could be used ethically? Yeah, sure. They're not going to be used like that though, because they were never designed to be used like that. They've been designed by oligarchs to plagiarize, addict people to them, and rot their brains.

Sorry to any esteemed professors of LLM ethics, but if every aspect of the thing you teach ethics on is inherently unethical, it kinda makes sense that no one wants to debate on the subtle nuances of how to make them ethical. The people making them don't want to do that, so it won't happen.

Blocking hatemongers is one thing but this trend of using mass block lists to avoid hearing from people who might or might not hold points of view you expect to disagree with is unhealthy imo and hurts the platform.

Bluesky was better off with folks like Margaret Mitchell and Giada Pistilli on it.
