“In forceful speeches” USC’s department chairs, professors, researchers called the Trump compact “egregiously invalid,” “probably unconstitutional,” “antithetical to principles of academic freedom” and “a Trojan horse.””

Can’t believe I am typing this in all caps: #FIGHTON
USC faculty members denounce Trump compact that would shift university to the right
The USC Academic Senate held a special meeting to discuss the Trump administration's education compact, which was presented to the school last week.

Note - criticism of the MAGA #SCOTUS is coming from BOTH Democratic and Republican nominated judges.

The judges were also asked to respond to the following:
Lower-court judges have sufficient guidance from the Supreme Court about how to apply emergency docket orders.
48 disagreed
5 were neutral
12 agreed

“Trump administration officials have expressed confidence that they will continue to win at the Supreme Court — where the president has racked up multiple victories this year. That might make them less concerned with activities in the lower courts.”

They believe they own John Roberts …
Skeptical judges increasingly question administration’s veracity
Judges have increasingly shown exasperation with Trump administration court tactics. The White House has shot back, raising tensions to previously unseen levels.

“More than three dozen federal judges have told The New York Times that the Supreme Court’s flurry of brief, opaque emergency orders in cases related to the Trump administration have left them confused about how to proceed in those matters and are hurting the judiciary’s image with the public.”

Good am. Now 1,197 days left till January 20, 2029 - when Trump has to leave the White House. #Lameduck

what do you make of this? This is all so weird.

5. He decided to do the firings anyway bc he thinks (for good reason at the moment) that he owns John Roberts. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Seems like WGN should do a full and transparent reporting of all the facts they know around what appears to be a brutal arrest of their producer. How did this happen?

WGN, this woman’s employer, is now reporting she was not charged with any crimes and was released.

DHS said earlier she was arrested for assault for throwing objects at agents.

Reasonable bet that Brett Kavanaugh will be clicking on this story. The legal community on BlueSky seem to have the juice.

The #Kavanaughstop as it should be - is now a thing.

Lawyers have been publicizing a new term to describe ICE's racially targeted detainments: a “Kavanaugh stop.”

Mother Jones reporter Pema Levy explains in this new video:

🚨👀 The head of a conservative watchdog organization acknowledged that its report cited by the DOJ did not find evidence that the network of liberal billionaire George Soros had broken the law.

Seems important. www.nytimes.com/2025/10/10/u...

"Scott Walter, the president of Capital Research Center, agreed that his group had not found evidence that the Soros network had committed a crime.

“They have to have funded something bad and they have to have known they were funding something bad,” to prove a criminal case, Mr. Walter said in an interview. “We actually did not make either of those claims that a prosecutor would need to make.”"

Ultimately Mainers have to decide the multiple choice question themselves and determine whether Susan Collins is ___________

A) Feckless
B) Useless
C) Craven
D) A & B
E) A, B & C

joesudbay.bsky.social
Collins keeps reaching new levels of fecklessness

In Dec, she had Maine media blare that she was the VERY powerful Chair of Approps. Then, in Jan, she voted to confirm Vought who has taken all of her power power away

She frets a lot of what Vought does but he could give a fuck what she thinks

New from Susan Collins: “I strongly oppose OMB Director Russ Vought’s attempt to permanently lay off federal workers who have been furloughed due to a completely unnecessary government shutdown caused by Senator Schumer.”

Wow. Greg Bovino admits on camera that his agents can detain people if you look scared, change your demeanor, or grip a steering wheel too tight.

As his unmasked agents walk around with large guns to scare you, they may arrest you just for that — even if you're a U.S. citizen.
murshedz.bsky.social
What do you mean? She is having it both ways. She is still blaming Chuck Schumer for this shutdown when it's her bosses - the Republican leadership who control the Senate.

WGN - that's the iconic channel that used to be part of the basic cable package back in the day and enabled us to watch Chicago Cubs anchored by Ryan Sandberg, Andre Dawson, Greg Maddux - w/ broadcasts from Steve Stone and Harry Caray.

They are going after the staff of that WGN. 👀

The RIFs seem like they might further entrench the Democratic position and prolong shutdown

Rep. Beyer: "harder to get the bipartisan deal that is needed to end this shutdown"

Sen. Murray: “A shutdown does not give Trump or Vought new, special powers to cause more chaos"

Can't blame Joe Biden for this:

A "mix of slowing immigration, increasing tariffs and federal job cuts" is driving 22 states towards "recession" or "or on the precipice of a downturn."

Trump and Republicans in Congress own all of this ↘️

They have been essentially doing this since Day 1 of this regime that needs to get litigated in the courts.

This will only make them even more unpopular and toxify the Republican brand even more in their districts.

No reason for Dems to blink on this.

Republicans are doing this. They own this.
