Something i would like folks to understand about the police raid on Westminster Quaker Meeting House. The right wingers thinking its a slam dunk to correct folks about it 'not being a meeting for worship, it was a room hire'
They are wrong, and its ignorance of Quakers, their history and praxis.

The takeaway i would like everyone who lives in documented citizenships privilege like i do - You might just die trying to do it 'legally'. She died trying to get out legally and no system was in place to fast track that or simplify it. We made asylum acts to fix this. Then we took them away.

Its said anecdotally that the Franks were 'refused' asylum in the USA but its slightly more nuanced - they tried to navigate complex immigration visas, got knocked back, then the next attempt was knocked back due to lack of documents. Why?
The consulate holding them was bombed flat.

People are rightfully comparing this to passages of Anne Frank's diaries.
A less referenced aspect of these fascist raids and abuses in relation to the Frank family is how there was no refugee system in the USA for them to apply for back then.
We need accessible safe routes to help people escape.
