I applied for other jobs for years and never had offers, so it’s a non starter.

We have a special needs child. Figuring out how to support her has been hell, TBH. Moving her now would likely mean reverting back to violence. I cant do that again, or maybe don’t want to, but does that matter?

I am curious to hear from American friends who are currently serving on academic search committees - are you seeing drops in applicant numbers from foreign nationals? #AcademicSky

Day 10 of hubs working without a guarantee of pay and talk of orangie getting the peace prize is really really insulting.

There are hundreds of years of history of women’s scientific accomplishments not being recognised or being minimised (“not notable”). It *still* happens. Many female scientists are only acknowledged on Wikipedia thanks to the efforts of, yes, other female scientists, notably physicist Dr Jess Wade.

Lol the Nobels can't even acknowledge women's contribution to discovery. But sure let's acknowledge The Machines.
Headline from an article in Nature this week that states "Prizes must recognize machine contributions to discovery. The future of science will be written by humans and machines together. Awards should reflect that reality."

Most of us don’t have that opportunity. And for those of us with family obligations it’s often non starter

It’s important that all governments focus on the most important issues right now…

The @europarl.europa.eu just made a fool of itself with this ban. Is there evidence that consumers think a "veggie burger" contains meat? Utterly ridiculous, and just (further) undermines the credibility of the institution (at the behest of the EPP).

EU parliament votes to ban meat names for plant-based foods
Pressure to ban meat labels for plant-based products comes from Europe's livestock farmers.

I would probably take some Tylenol too if I had a baby in my placenta.

as a physician, I'll note that if you have a fetus in your placenta then something has gone quite wrong indeed

No military-backed coup is ever popular. Regimes that deploy troops, whether interior troops or national armed forces, or both, happen because some elite or cabal decides that their survival and fortunes can only be achieved through seizing and holding on to power, not through democracy.

Nearly 60% of Americans don’t want troops deployed to our cities without the presence of external threats. Trump’s ICE and military actions in several USA cities are NOT popular #Voices4Victory #ProudBlue
