Dr. King reportedly said, "If you are comfortable in your coalition, your coalition is too small," and I need everyone who wants to beat the fascists and their Vichy collaborators to remember this in the coming years.

The great American playwright Clifford Odets wrote a play in 1935 in which a lab assistant is offered a big raise to work on a secret project to develop chemical weapons, and also to spy on his coworker. Not only does the guy immediately refuse & quit his job, he PUNCHES THE BOSS IN THE FACE 👑👑👑
Excerpt from "Waiting for Lefty"
FAY: That's a big job for foreigners.
MILL: But sneaking—and making poison gas—that's for Americans?
FAY: It's up to you.
MILL: My mind's made up.
FAY: No hard feelings?
MILL: Sure hard feelings! I'm not the civilized type, Mr. Fayette. Nothing suave or sophisticated about me. Plenty of hard feelings! Enough to want to bust you and all your kind square in the mouth! [Does exactly that.]

[Me, a poor, on the subway, glowering jealously at all those fat cat, fancy pants rich people on the public bus]
Andrew Cuomo tweet:

@ZohranKMamdani's "plan" provides no relief for working families who take the subway, and unnecessary benefits to wealthy New Yorkers who take the bus and can afford the fare.

I focus on working families, while @ZohranKMamdani the mansion boy focuses on helping the rich.

TFW you paid $1400 to see Beckett’s most famous work without knowing anything about it
One Star Review of Waiting for Godot on Broadway
I recently attended Waiting for Godot on Broadway and spent over $1,400 for two Row C seats (103 and 104). I'm a longtime admirer of Broadway productions and even hold a season pass for Shea's Performing Arts Theatre, so I came in with genuine enthusiasm and high expectations. Unfortunately, this show was unlike anything ! have ever experienced —and not in a good way.
What I encountered was not the artistry, music, or emotional storytelling I usually associate with Broadway, but instead what felt like an endless cycle of nonsensical conversation between characters who seemed trapped in their own madness. I tried-truly tried-to find meaning, symbolism, or even a thread of emotional resonance. I stayed through the first half hoping the second would offer clarity. But by intermission, it was clear: this was a waste of both time and money.
Keanu Reeves is an actor I respect greatly, but I cannot fathom why he would agree to participate in such a disjointed, inaccessible production. His talent was lost in a performance that defied reason rather than provoked insight.
To anyone considering attending: unless you are drawn to highly abstract, nearly incomprehensible theater, I strongly caution you against this show. For the average, educated, thoughtful theatergoer, it is far more frustrating than fulfilling. In my opinion, this was the single most disappointing Broadway experience I've ever had - an unfortunate waste of money and, more importantly, of time.

So cool that whenever someone asks the president, “did you eat the Lindbergh baby” he’s like, “no but I’d be allowed to, I have the right to, I might do it later”

If the regime does go after DSA, the appropriate response will be for as many people as possible to become dues-paying members.

My kingdom for a city that has historic preservationists who want to talk about historic preservation instead of their aversion to tall buildings.

www.nytimes.com/2025/10/06/n...
In a city where expensive supertalls have punched through the skyline, that question is being raised by Andrew Berman, the executive director of Village Preservation, a group that focuses on architecture in Greenwich Village, the East Village and NoHo. His target is a 30-story condominium tower planned for West 13th Street. That is so tall that Sean Khorsandi, the executive director of the local preservation group Landmark West!, said that the tower would be “head and shoulders above its context,” meaning other buildings in the neighborhood.

condemnations of political violence are well taken but it does feel as if some
prominent political commentators are of the view that violence isn’t a part of the history of American politics and that is very much not true.

New York City calls itself a refuge for queer and trans Americans, but that promise is at risk if we don't take on the housing crisis head on. Read my op-ed about the need to build more housing to reduce rents, in this case, via the OneLIC project: gaycitynews.com/new-york-rem...
