Given the context of our situation, I think it's unwise to dismiss revolutionary politics out of hand, but downright silly to count on ye olde capital assets of the 2012 status quo to foster such politics.

Way I see it, we're at a minimum 5yrs deep into a successful technofascist revolution. I think a lot of folks are hoping for something more like a counterrevolution of the ostensibly liberal elite wo recognizing it, and that simply ain't gonna happen. Not near enough *actually* "liberal" elite. 2/

Nothing even resembling a revolutionary politic is gonna emerge from monied liberal institution[alist]s nor their envoys & surrogates, that much should be abundantly clear to everyone by now (pardon the pun). I do have a slightly diff outlook on contemporary revolution tho. 1/

My biggest concern is this partnership resulting somehow in a downshift of their capacity to motivate supporters to get physically involved in their communities. They've been awesome at turning out support so far, but that could change on a dime w brand negotiations.

I feel you 100%. It's impossible to have been paying attention even just the last 15yrs & not see the cynicism of such a move. I've got very little, if any, faith left in electoralism though so it's easier not to sweat it too much. We all got bigger fish to fry than a vote sometime next year.

If I'm being charitable, I'd wager it's to piggyback off the brand recognition to get their names & platforms in front of more complacent/disengaged homebody libs. I really hope it's not a long-term sellout type pivot.

The inflatable protestfrog became well known on platforms, more and more people showed up in frog-costumes, there were many media articles on the phenomenon and many AI videos for example showing the frog being handed the Noble peace prize and AI movie posters of Freedom Frog 2, Rise of the pond. Most likely people will at some point grow tired of the frog, MAGA influencers will try to criminalize the frog or the person behind it and at some point people will most likely lose interest until the next time the frog as a kind of meta-meme will rise again...
