NYT reporting that Venezuela offered the US sweeping economic concessions, ceasing trade with China, etc., an ownership stake in all present & future oil/gold, to end the threat of war. But the US refused anything less than full capitulation to replace the government with an American puppet regime.

Yeah, no big extreme storms. No hurricanes of mention hit us. Etc.. And yet the island was on fire, air choked with smoke, water rationing, crop yields way down.

Starting to feel like this is going to be the good years ahead, interspersed with extreme storms.

Yep, a lot of dry wells here too. We've had SOME rain this Fall, a reprieve so we don't have to ration water so much, but nowhere near what we usually get. The town's water reservoir is still lower than I've ever seen it before this year.

Remember how for months (or years) we had to hear about an epidemic of shoplifting and gangster organized robbery of big box stores? News media ran with it, government policy was written based on it.

But at investor meetings the same stores who started it admitted there was no rise in theft at all.

My favourite meeting room was the one from Octopussy: where the politburo sat at a giant round semi circle table that would rotate. Why? So they could more easily look at the gigantic screens that showed their military plans.
