I know this is kind of dark, but you also know no one is carrying a gun.
Which is kinda wild because lots of Spaniards hunt and have guns. Remember about 35 years ago picking up bags in Madrid and gun cases and rifles were just coming down the baggage carousel. Hunters coming back from holiday.

I was coming home from Alaska through Seattle with a tight connection, flight delay and then my departing flight is boarding before I get off. Who knew it takes 3 different trains to get from south terminal to north. Who designed that mess. Anyway probably best I didn’t know in advance.

Thinking about this whole "Dems need to move right on abortion to win in red states" thing. Since this spring we have been asking different variations of this RCN-ish inclusive populism message, and the results are like - blinding. There's just broad, almost overwhelming 🧵

I like him. His “I’m governor for everyone in Kentucky and I need to respect and do my best for all of them” approach is great and necessary for the next dem pres candidate. But the candidate also needs to understand and be confident playing ruthless power politics. Don’t know if he’s got that

A bus of Bronx middle schoolers pulled up to the Capitol this morning for a long-planned field trip just a few hours after the government shut down.

All Capitol tours were cancelled as the guides can’t work in shutdown.

So I escorted them in myself and gave them a personal tour. They were great!

my latest is expanding on the observation that your view of the politics of opposition to the administration depend largely on your view of the election (gift link)

This is helpful to a retired fed struggling to get my head around how wrong I was about my country and the fragility of the progress I took for granted much of my career. I have always found TNC's writing to be illuminating. This conversation shows that many of us still have more to learn from him.

If so sign SB79. Otherwise we’ll know this is BS.

I expected that Trump and his idiotic appointees would try to destroy our government. I didn’t expect the universities, media, states etc to just roll over and let him

Important string. Unfortunately I don’t know of a single Democrat clearly expressing similar view. Please point out any that I have missed.

For 26 but especially 2028 it's time for Democrats to make clear that the current Supreme Court will have to be reformed (expanded in number, reformed in structure) to allow popular govt to continue in the United States. Not so much a litmus test as precondition for any other promise to be credible.

OK, I’ve always liked Pete but I just listened to him explain in rather convoluted nonsensical terms why he’s not endorsing Mamdani. Now I see this and apparently he’s just one more of those risk averse democrats who’s afraid to trust voters. Not gonna get us where we need to be

A basic point, but the reason you go after flawed actors like Comey is to habituate people to the abuse of prosecutorial authority, so that when more serious figures are targeted the abuse of authority feels routine.

In general I’ve spent a lot more time studying whatever it is that someone is offering advice on than they have. If it’s a question or subject that someone has expertise and has spent lots of time on it, please bring it on.
