The rain meant wet, slippery bike seats.

Unpleasant to mount after a stop, but chafing was a non-issue. On balance a win.
paulatkinsonpdx.bsky.social
We were cold. Kinda. You warm up when riding, but there were plenty of long waits.

By which I mean, meh. I've been cold before, I'll be cold again, same thing with wet. But this is the first time I've needed to endure those to push fascists out of my country.

Plenty of rain meant wet, slippery seats. Good news on the chafing front.

Pretty sure that's PDX. Saw a frog, and the layout is right.

What the American right wing is completely incapable of understanding is this whole situation happened because Joe Biden *refused to hold Trump accountable* for Jan 6th, *because it would look as if he were attacking his political enemy,* and he wouldn't even tolerate the appearance of that.

The Insurrection Act - guys in the USA: you've had it for so long just waiting for its dictator to use against you. What the hell, really?
It's like your every government and every president worked towards some Trump going mental.
The Sinister Reason Trump Is Itching to Invoke the Insurrection Act
An authoritarian’s dream, the Insurrection Act is ripe for abuse — and Trump’s Cabinet is already setting up his justification to use it.

A laser is a device that points from a target to your hand.

It is a terribly bad idea.

Whoever made this sign is either irretrievably irresponsible or else MAGA. But I repeat myself.
jakeythesnakey.bsky.social
This is such an astoundingly bad idea that I kinda think it’s a false flag or an op of some sort

Merits aside, it is insanely easy to be caught if you do this and the punishment for doing this is much more severe than you’d guess.

“We’re being ourselves in order to highlight the weirdness that others are trying to impose on Portland.

We’re just showing them who we are and hopefully that causes them to re-evaluate their motives for being here.”

ICE are the weird ones.

Militarizing a city against its wishes is weird.

Portland's famous Unipiper was spotted at the Portland ICE protest where he played his bagpipes in front of Santa, Mr. Potato Head, Garfield and more -- all while surrounded by bubbles.

The far-right mouthpiece who told young men to clean up their place while in front of his very clearly messy home, now has contracted an illness from all the mold in his home.

If you wrote such a fascist character in a story it would be deemed a silly caricature.
Jordan Peterson diagnosed with chronic condition after exposure to mold
Peterson's daughter said her father has a "genetic predisposition that causes the immune system to have an inability to identify and detoxify mold."

A friendly reminder to get a burner phone or out you personal device in airplane mode until you need a data signal. At least when attending very high profile events like the ones in Portland lately.

That cheerful welcome made my ride so much better (and it was already fun). Thank you for all being there!

Or actual choice

because Portland odds is 50/ 50

You all are so relentlessly insufferable. (not Kevin)

STOP GATEKEEPING PROTEST

THATS NOT HOW PROTEST WORKS

THE MORE PROTEST THE BETTER

THE MORE KINDS OF PROTEST THE BETTER

the same people screaming “do something!” also screaming “not like that!”

Y’all are shooting yourselves in the foot.

Someone in my mentions is upset because these people haven’t suffered the worst at ICE’s hands and therefore they shouldn’t be praised for being out on the streets?

Yeah, no. To push back on these people we need everyone — especially those with relative privilege — to get up and get involved.

This senile liar who currently occupies the White House does not remember that he was President on January 6th.

If you voted for this senile liar, and if you enable him today, you clearly are ok with breaking America. The ruins of our once great nation are because of you.

“I spent three nights and three days in federal custody. During that time, I was never told what I was charged with, was not allowed to shower despite being covered in tear gas and pepper spray, had no phone call to my family, and no access to an attorney.” - George Retes, U.S. citizen and veteran.
I’m a US citizen and a veteran. ICE arrested me for no reason.
Jailed for three days without an explanation or ability to notify anyone, George Retes argues the only path to healing starts with the government taking accountability for its actions.

Earlier this year, two Republicans were sworn in less than 24 hours after their elections.

It’s been 20 days since @adelitaforcongress.bsky.social won her race and Speaker Johnson’s still dragging his feet.

It’s time to swear her in.
