One of those cases where the pearl clutcher is clutching other people's pearls.

As I read it - this also to Dave above - I don't see Adam there considering *motives* at all.

Rather, face value: implying a lack of professionalism in particular BBC news/political interviewing, & an evident appearance of a double standard in its questions re: discrimination & racist attacks.

something quite brain-melting about the hard right's position apparently now being "we hate all Muslims and distrust Muslim states, aside from that one Muslim place that still has slavery because that sounds fun"

The Snuffster is still at it!

Which suggests there are still "enough" (i.e. too many) parents misinformed and/or so disrespectful of their own children to keep feeding her Gradgrindian, Squeersian spirit-broken ego, vanity & abusive sadism with cold, hard cash.

Promise to reduce workers's rights
Inflict spending cuts - hit the poor, old, sick, disabled

Now claims teachers are “poisoning our kids” - just as Nazis did to control education.

And Kenny is an underrecognised spirited talent. A bit like Blue Mitchell, unlucky to have lost out in popular regard because of the new generation of trumpeters springing up from late 1950s (Lee Morgan, Don Byrd, Booker Little, Freddie Hubbard, Nat ... there were quite a number of star young uns)

(2) the more I listened to JA, most obviously in his own contexts (with his brother, esp live - also an album with Milt Jackson and another with Bill Evans), the more I got to enjoy his zippy, growling-bluesy, often driving breeziness.

First I heard of Cannonball was alongside Trane. Not so impressed, he seemed - well, a bit stuck in bebop, a bit superficially cheery, compared against Trane's originality (even 1958-9), that deep-soulful hollering-cry sonority of his ... >2

I'm virtually joining my very good friend @richienb.bsky.social in a glass of Calvados.

The week we have #WorldCalvadosDay and it would be remiss of me not to mark this important date in the calendar...
This is the label on the bottle of my 20 year old, double distilled Calvados. You can just make out the glass on the right of the photo.

And a notoriously hard taskmaster!

(Though some would say they all deserved it! :D - notice it is towards trumpeters both times. Maybe he too thought none matched Brownie?)

And OP was proud of that title - to play music that people liked to hear. Not to play to the gallery for lucre (as some musicians are tempted to do - the worst do so from Day 1!), but to give as well as enjoy pleasure in music & life. He seemed a cheerful spirit, in spite of the bad (e.g. bigotry).
