I think that’s where the disconnect is. It’s not necessarily about you knowing them personally, but creating the community. Everybody is a stranger in the beginning

Honestly this is my problem with referring to it as "mutual aid" which used to have a specific meaning of organizing together to meet community needs on both sides, not "one individual gives someone they don't know money".

If you're comfortable, & you have everything you need taken care of with a little extra, you don't have to give to mutual aid, but why wouldn't you? The hoarding mindset is capitalist. You can easily be part of the community that supports real life vulnerable folks. We're all we got. You gon learn.
