The game is on Saturday.

On Friday night, Oslo will stage a vital World Cup qualifier.

But it is also a political powder keg after Norway called for opponents Israel to be thrown out of the competition due to their government’s actions in Gaza.

This is how a football game took on geopolitical significance.

It's amazing how fast credibility can be just pissed away in the media world.

New: Bari Weiss booked Hillary Clinton, Mike Pompeo, and Antony Blinken for a roundtable on Gaza, her first major move at CBS.

Notably on a CBS call today in which the panel was floated, one producer also repeatedly emphasized the need to hear from Palestinians in Gaza (Weiss did not respond).

Interesting that, not only did trump not win, the committee chose a country whose population (in the form of its fishing boats) is being targeted by him.

The Nobel Peace Prize for 2025 has been awarded to Venezuelan politician María Corina Machado.

Announcing the winner, Joergen Watne Frydnes describes Machado as “a brave and committed champion of peace” who “keeps the flame of democracy burning amidst growing darkness”.

There's an interesting study to be done on the concerted push from media, Infantino etc. to get Trump the peace prize over the last 24 hours, despite all the evidence of his authoritarian nature.
One wonders what the consequences for Norway & indeed the Palestinians will be now that he didn't win?

Worth recalling that it's only a couple of days since FG presidential candidate Heather Humphreys was airing her own transphobia in Irish media, giving voters a very clear choice to make.

Ah yes, but he'll be gone by then and executive director of a few big firms, coining it in after a long, illustrious career of political cowardice and sneering.

Hate Group Calls for Re-Labeling Transness as Mental Illness — Assigned
A fringe group with no expertise pushes the field of psychiatry to regress to a pre-scientific, prejudice-soaked view of trans people. It coincides with the far-right political agenda.

You cannot negotiate with climate change, and it doesn't give a fuck about tour feelings, or your ratings.
Just come out and say you don't have the courage to do what needs to be done, nor the skill to convince voters of it.

Almost three-quarters of people incarcerated in Irish prisons have some form of substance addiction – but face long waits for treatment. Will budget 2026 fund more supports for them? It's unclear.

Regarding EU sausagegate, I suggest we solve it using an 80s-metal-band trick and just add random umlauts. Anyone for a veggie bürger or a saüsage? Or, in Swedish, a körv...?

Good night all, and remember - there is no peace without justice, no peace in occupation, no peace without freedom and dignity and
equality of opportunity.
There is no peace in supremacy or in hatred of any kind.
Just and lasting peace is the only prize that matters.

Ireland travel with little expectation and not much hope for their next World Cup qualifier against Portugal on Saturday. The temptation is to try and be ultra conservative tactically but does that makes sense against Cristiano Ronaldo & Co? My analysis:
Why Ireland can’t ‘park the bus’ against Portugal
Let’s be honest, if Ireland could get a 0-0 draw at Estádio José Alvalade on Saturday, most Irish fans would not care a jot how it was achieved.

Can we stop doorstepping both candidates with stupid questions like this? Connolly has a record of public service and statements that can be scrutinised and analysed deeply without resorting to this "gotcha!" tabloid nonsense.

In 2014, Humphreys became the Arts, Heritage and Gaeltacht Minister, but faced criticism due to her lack of Irish.
