If government excuses were included in GDP, our economic woes would be over. But what we really need to hear from the Chancellor is action – especially on Europe.
it will be easy targets again. needs to be simpler, progressive, somewhat linear (like avoiding 100k marginal 62% - or sharp benefits cutoff at lower end). And overall, yes, higher.
In part I agree, but it's not helped by an over complex tax structure and oddities (like 100k marginal 62% - that's not progressive, it's abusive. needs smoothing)

LibDem already have this policy. Maybe lab will come around. less sure on right. But it’s caused so much damage and crucially has destroyed hope. Having flexibility, options, in a much larger unit can mitigate other challenges and allow new ideas to flourish. brexit took that away for many. criminal
Student, "How would you, if in power, create closer relationships with Europe?"

Zack Polanski, "In the long term we need to rejoin the European Union"

"So people your age, and students, can have the same experiences and freedoms that I had when I was a student"
A bit like all the Brexit wins were
When will we (as a country and with broad political
Consensus) understand the self-harm Brexit caused
I’d like to see other parties make a similar statement regardless of who is depicted. It should have near uniform support apart from those promoting

this is LITERAL VIOLENCE if you were born in the 60s, too.
Please just let me type in the year I was born. No more scrolling. We don’t have to keep doing this to each other.

arXiv will no longer accept review articles and position papers unless they have been accepted at a journal or a conference and complete successful peer review.

This is due to being overwhelmed by a hundreds of AI generated papers a month.

Yet another open submission process killed by LLMs.

A majority of people (56%) now say they don't trust the US, compared to 40% in the weeks following Trump's re-election in November 2024. And the EU is now seen as Britain's most reliable partner, according to the YouGov poll, commissioned by campaign group Best for Britain.
I guess it depends on who who follow.. I can’t remember a single post on the topic until you mentioned it!
What a horrendous, scary, potentially deathly situation for those onboard the train last night carrying a vicious attacker.
yes indeed. You might get a smaller malatung in a small restaurant for 20-22 (but a fraction of the amount/quality/choice). The pricy one is actually good value as it includes some bbq options, starter and dessert
yep eating out (or indeed takeaway) is expensive here rather than something you can do frequently :-(

Thankfully we now have one of the most awesome hotpot places I’ve been to in the UK open up locally! and it’s fixed price (about 37-38 ukp but worth it!)

I wish I could just block paywalled article links, since I can’t access them, quoting them just gets frustrating! (yes a simplistic view ….)
Of course it’;s a balance between new ideas/future and experience so **LETS THINK ABOUT THE BREXIT EXPERIENCE** and where the ideas came from … !!
An inconvenient truth. @turnbulldugarte.com and @emiliabelknap.bsky.social puncture a pervasive myth. ‬ "Among young respondents aged 18-25, a very comfortable majority of women reject Reform UK (75%), and a similarly large majority of men in the same age group share the same view (71%)."
Most British young men reject the far right - UK in a changing Europe
