yes exactly. so she knew it was vegan, but liked to think cows might have made it, had they had the chance!

my family's approach to kosher eating always baffled me. one time my dad had bacon bits on his food at a restaurant. he ate them, saying they were onion bits (we both knew they weren't!)

Plain shirts reminds me of the "dress code" at The Hoist. A couple of tourists came in, hopelessly inappropriately dressed. When I asked at the door, they said they were wearing boots so were fine to come in

I think my mum always considered butter and margarine to be equal. she used it as a spread useful for kosher cooking when we had meat; she really wanted butter but of course god wouldn't have approved!

that's their bad. sounds like they were deliberately trying to confuse you with the cows on it.

any vegan alternative that has cows on the packaging would probably lose sales to people who think it might have dairy in it! better to put a picture of an oat, or almost, or whatever :)

It’s blatant populist politics… legislating for a problem which doesn't exist, just like no-one ever mistook almond milk for cow milk (any more than they did milk of magnesia!)

I worked as an Estate Agent during the COVID years. When Sunak gave a Stamp Duty break. Result was buyers put up their asking prices. When it ended in a mad dash for completions, those prices dropped back.

@caspar.lol what did you decide about gym app? I downloaded Hevy again, and see that it’s not changed in the few years since I last used it. Apart from having exercise names listed in their database, it seems quite basic to me now

he used to put a red circle around the offending letter, and if I'd been particularly bad, would write "see me" at the end. This meant I had to stay behind after class for a telling off!

My English teacher used to tell me off for forgetting to put the dots on my ı's. Now I never forget… but always notice when others do :).

Husband yesterday had a bunch of herbs in each hand. Quit different size handfuls but still a handful in each. Recipe called for a handful… but which hand? 🙃

In Berlin, they introduced this very law. Anywhere a car can park, so can a rental bike. But car drivers, frustrated at bikes taking their spaces, move the bikes to the pavement, usually in the middle so that they can easily get out of the car – actually making the problem worse!

There are many criticisms you might sensibly and truthfully make of the Sentencing Council and the Sentencing Guidelines. I’ve been making them for years.

I'm not a bible person, but maybe the christians in US would do well to read theirs: "Do not mistreat foreigners living in your country, but treat them just as you treat your own citizens."
