I need to try even harder to tap into that weird shit out there. Ironically it seems like it was easier to find back when the internet was smaller. Now weirdness is a commercial aesthetic. But not the real stuff, the raw stuff that can't have its fangs pulled out. But it's buried beneath the rest.

Finished Lemurian Vampire and wrapped up Case of the Golden Idol. Fantastic game. I'm eager to try Rise of the Golden Idol but enjoyed pacing out the first game over a few months so I'll probably wait a bit.

One thing rough about playing old games is not always knowing when or how you're saving. Got pretty deep into Donkey Kong Country and lost all my progress because I had no idea where a save point was.

The first episode grabbed me. Usually if I'm going to bounce off a show it's right away but it's set up an interesting situation with a flawed protagonist and solid stakes (keeping his family safe from guerrillas who want to kill them all because he's a traitor)

You don't hear it so much anymore but a refrain with people my age for a long time was "I like everything except country and rap" and Cash was almost always the one to crack them out of this mindset. I think this guy was a late bloomer.

I started watching Wild District, a Colombian series about a former guerrilla who's recruited by the government to track down a political assassin. Having mainly US action stuff and how we love to dream up bad guys to defeat, it has a lot of heft that its grounded in the reality of Colombia.
