Pink cap orchid - Caladenia clarkiae - near Genoa, East Gippsland, VIC.

This is probably the pinkest form of this small cap orchid I have seen in East Gippsland - although plants with almost entirely reddish/pink flowers are found in some locations.

Waxlip orchids (Glossodia/Caladenia major*) near the Wonboyn River, NSW. Fairly common orchid at this location - sometimes growing alongside the closely related Glossodia minor (Caladenia glossodia*).

7:31 am, 12/17/24: It's not an afterglow...it's a PRE-glow! The glow of the coming sunrise paints the blue hour sky over the mountains to appear aflame and burning the frame from the lower left horizon upwards, with purple tendrils of 'smoke' drifting from the 'licks of the flames' above the silhouetted trees. My fav blue hour frame of 2024.
