“Playgrounds, like libraries or other public services, shouldn’t depend on unpaid labour – they should be properly funded and run by local government.”

#Tradition is accepting something without requiring justification and this should be rejected. Justification is what makes things more likely to be reasonable. Embracing/using traditions is often a feature of fascism.
Photos of two contrasting gardens are presented: one a highly manicured lawn with nothing but grass; one full of many many types of plants, not intensely managed, and featuring a three to four seat wooden bench. The words reject tradition, embrace biodiversity are written on the photos.

I long to study, to work, to go out, to help others, to contribute to society, to hike, and look out at the views.
Instead I cried this morning because I am so exhausted that digesting my feed through my feeding tube had taken all my energy.

There’s a ton of loot from the 1831 Bristol Riots waiting to be recovered somewhere in Bristol, and I know where. I'm giving everyone who wants to be fabulously rich the exact location at this event.*
(*Fabulous richness not guaranteed.)

Can you switch to the lower standing charge tariff in the summer, then back to the lower unit rates for the winter?

I had a great day at the park volunteer event from Your Park Bath and Bristol. We are lucky to have so many amazing nature sites in Bristol that the community has fought for. 💚 It was really nice to meet other volunteers from around the city.

Saw the new artwork in #Bristol Centre this morning - I like it. Looks better than the old fountains and makes it a usable space.

In a UN speech today, President Trump said that "all of these [climate] predictions were wrong".

Back in 2019 I led a research effort to digitize old climate model projections and assess how well they did. Turns out they got future warming pretty spot on!

An option of lower standing charges, but higher unit rates. Will the answer be to switch tariffs twice a year, lower standing charge summer, lower unit rates winter?

It is "established fact" that humans have warmed the Earth by burning fossils fuels and that our emissions have made climate extremes more frequent and intense (IPCC AR6)

Thank you for your attention to this matter!

The truth: we need migration.

The problem: too many politicians are terrified to say it.

Why? They're led by a) toxicity of the charlatans & b) wealthy media organisations who demand these useful distractions rather than us talking about inequality.

Reject it. Draw the line.

“Prompting people to actively notice birdsong, plant textures and smells can significantly improve wellbeing…”

Interesting study that suggests simple and small interventions, eg signage, that encourage people to notice nature can boost people’s wellbeing.

Stumbled across this amazing video of the Birmingham Canal in 1970. The quality of the presentation is incredible, both in the pacing and shots to the thoughtful insights.

I wonder where some of these people are now? #ukcanal #narrowboat
