One curious thing on this site about speaking out against the encroachment of LLMs is that inevitably you get accused of being anti-tech. I don’t hate technology. I’ve used machine learning in my own code before. But I also recognize that oligarchs are so hellbent on pushing this tech for a reason.

I say this with the bluntness it requires: they will get people murdered if this continues. This is not just populism anymore either: it’s completely unhinged and a deliberate choice that does endanger lives. I am not saying this lightly at all.

In future Britain will be a poorer country with fewer taxpayers & more older people dependent on more expensive healthcare in need of more immigration. Climate change will displace millions. Yet, 2 mainstream parties are already proposing detention camps & mass deportations. Bleak.

All the scientific racists in the house. By its definition scientific racism is a ‘luxury belief’ - it’s rewarded within elite circles but if it’s operationalised it would be devastating for millions of ordinary powerless people. Disgraceful that the New Statesmen is signal boosting this dreck.
